Whitney Port talks 'The City,' and drops a major 'Hills' scoop!

Filed under: Television and tagged: , ,

Whitney Port’s The Hills spin-off, The City (which documents her new life in New York City — that title couldn’t possibly be more clever, right?) premieres tonight on MTV, and the celebutante stopped by the EW offices to give us the dirt on going from sideline player to star of her own series. (Hint: she promises she hasn’t left her token I’m totally saying something without saying anything at all facial expressions behind.)

Plus, the statuesque blonde (she really is tall in person) also offered up some juicy details on a few things I was dying to know regarding the "reality" behind The Hills. Besides her "meet cute" with Jay, I also asked Whitney about the it-was-so-absurd-it-just-had-to-be-faked curling iron incident in Paris during season 3. Remember how Lauren accidentally burned the super pricey Alberta Ferretti gown she was supposed to wear to the Crillon Ball, and then the store magically handed over another one to her, seemingly with no questions asked? Well, according to Whit, the bad deed did not go unpunished [dun dun dun].

So Pop Watchers, go on and click "Play" below to find out the answers to my burning (no pun intended) questions.

As much as I couldn’t stand The Hills, I did see Whitney as pretty endearing. I’d probably watch this

Lindsay, I love how you did The Hills hairdo! It’s very Lauren/Whitney of you! I watch The Hills, so I’ll probably watch this dumb show too.

    Entertainment Weekly,
Do you factor in, when deciding to make articles video based, that most people tend to read your website while they are at work suppose to be busy doing actual work? Making something video oriented makes it much harder to get something under on the company dime.
I can’t stand Ausiello Television for the same reason.

Without the voiceover the show is destined to be that much better than the hills, if it’s even possible to be better. I can only hope for a new york Heidi and Spencer.

Please give us the text version of this!

  • Seriously

She is one of the VERY few characters from The Hills who seemed to have a good head on her shoulders.
    Good for her!

whitney is the only one who seems remotley sane… i don’t get why ew is so obsessed with the hills. just like they are with twilght… y’all need a wider spectrum of news. it should be more industry oriented and less the glossy tabloid that it is…

Just read on AP that she does not even work for DVF. She is rarely in those offices and it is all for tv. Yet another MTV show coming off as a reality show. Why don’t they just script this and have them become characters instead of calling it a reality show. Please!

AH, here’s Lindsay Soll again using strikethrough for the 16 hundredth time as if it’s fresh and witty. Well it’s not! Nor is the context of your writing as in these are shows that are apparently beneath you but you begrudgingly watch anyway. Do us all a favour, fire yourself, unplug your computer, throw it out the window and get a life!
