There’s a show on The CW that we think you should be watching and it’s not Gossip Girl, for a change. It’s Privileged. I’m seeing the ratings drop (15 percent this week from the week before), and I’m not sure why. Yes, Anne Archer’s storyline has been a bit of a snooze (playing a successful, sexy grandma with a past, the Fatal Attraction star deserves better — let’s hope she gets it) but the chemistry between her teen granddaughters’ nanny/tutor, Megan (the delightful Joanna Garcia), and the rich hunk next door, Will (the man-candy-that-can-actually-act Brian Hallisay), is getting seriously steamy. The relationship between prickly Sage (Ashley Newbrough) and her decent twin Rose (Lucy Hale) is getting surprisingly complicated. And the smartass family chef Marco (scene-stealer Allan Louis, pictured with Garcia) is getting highly entertaining.
The next new episode of Privileged won’t air until December (in its regular Tuesday, 9 p.m. EDT timeslot), so take this time to catch up, folks. And if you were a fan of the show but abandoned it, tell us what it can do to bring you back…

Agreed. This is a decent show that “sneaks up on you.” Yes, give it a try.
i’m so glad you’re calling out privileged right now. the show is fantastic, and needs to be a hit. joanna garcia is pitch-perfect as megan – just the right amount of cheese, just the right amount of self-awareness. as a whole, there’s not a more adorable, heart-warming hour of televison on right now.
LOVE LOVE LOVE PRIVILEGED! EVERYONE NEEDS TO BE WATCHING! It’s super fun and cute. Their convos are so witty and laugh out loud hilarious – for fans, my favorite scene thus far was watching Sage tell of “Spam” when they were delivering the prom gowns to the less fortunate high school girls. haha. Everyone check it out in Dec.!
I really thought this would be the first show I’d break up with this season, but it’s surprised me. It’s now one of my must-watch-now shows.
Couldn’t agree more with your post and NineDaves! It’s fluffy, it’s fun, and a little bit of drama! And it does all that without feeling contrived or been-there-seen-that.
Please watch!!
This week was my last episode. Megan is annoying and I realized I wouldn’t like her if I met her. I’m much more interested in Rose & Sage. Megan’s character is like Ross towards the end of FRIENDS, over the top and unrealistic. Her reactions to situtations are just too much.
Love it!
I really like this show even though I sometimes think Megan is a bit too pious for my tastes. I’m not feeling the Megan/Will storyline and I kind of think it’s a bit too soon to get them together as a full-blown couple which it would seem is their plan. I’ll admit I prefer Charlie over Will. There’s a reason why the best friends falling in love is a timeless tale.
For me, I need more Charlie on a friendship level and not just as Megan’s sounding board. I also need more backstory on Megan which I know we will get but I need to be able to sympathize with the character when she gets all judge-y and that’s quite frequently. While I like Laurel, I find the episodes are better when she’s not around. If you’re going to have Laurel then start developing the relationship with her granddaughters more. I haven’t had a chance to watch this week’s episode yet so some of this may have started to happen. I’m not giving up on the show but it’s not as must-see as it was in the beginning.
I love this show! Even though it focuses on a super-rich family, the situations that take place are surprisingly realistic and heartfelt. The only thing I can’t get past is that the casting directors put two pairs of “sisters” together who don’t have any physical resemblance (Rose & Sage, Megan & Lilly). But please watch and save this show!!
I love Privileged too. My only problem is with Sage – she’s beautiful and plays her character well, but she’s just not a model. I like Rose a lot, though.
I’m definitely a fan. Have been from the first show. And I’m a guy. I watched only because, hey, it’s Joanna Garcia (oo lala) in all her beautiful post-Reba glory. Love all the characters, each has their own personality that makes then unique to the show (still waiting for that Sage-Megan b*tch-slap fight). I won’t stop watching, but my only sugestion would be to get rid of her sister Lily. Not sure where this “actress” came from, but she is horrible.
LOVE THIS SHOW!!! My new favorite this season and Will is smoking hot! PLEASE WATCH!!!
Privileged has become my must see TV of the season. Really hope the show succeeds although they might have rushed the Will-Meagan romance a little. Please, please watch!!
I love this show, I just forget that it’s on. When I happen to catch it, I’m delighted by the exchange and in love with all the characters. I wish that the principal romance would have worked out. He was a hottie!
hey, I’m a thirtysomething straight guy, and I love the show, I take time to watch most new shows that I think I might like, and I think this is the only one I stuck with, even upgraded it from recording on low rez TV to HD when recording it on DVR, and if it takes to watch it in real time to help the ratings, I will. i have to say I really like the Sage character, I think she gets some of the best lines and theres something striking about her, not the usual bubble head!
I love this one, too. I agree with Trent about Lily, though; she seems drunk in every scene. Based on the character, I’m not sure if this is deliberate.
I love this show. We all know Megan will eventually hook up with Charlie, but it’s fun to watch all of the other guys chase her for the time being. I also didn’t think I’d like JoAnna (?) Garcia that much, but I reallllly like her character and how she portrays her. And the evil twin is probably my most fave- she ahs the crazy eyes! My chef husband likes the wise and sassy chef, too.
Love love love this show!!! Please watch it you will love it too!!
About time this show got attention, a great cast and growing potential adds up to a nice funny series. Thanks for bringing some spotlight to it.
Well, since you said “please”…..ok.
I like this show, and tend to watch it, but I don’t *love* this show. I think Megan makes really, really terrible decisions and it occasionally annoys me to watch her bumble her way through everything.
Good, fun show. I enjoy it.
I never thought I’d find a show to fill the hole in my heart left by the departure of Gilmore Girls and Everwood but Privileged is fitting the bill quite nicely. I wouldn’t complain if they recast Lily and I would love to see Sarah Drew back. I hope more people start to tune in and I really hope the CW keeps it’s faith in the show.
This piece is a little ironic, considering its timeslot competitor is featured on the Must List today.
Love the show!!!
I love this show. I’ve watched from the beginning. If you do catch up on cwtv.com, they offer interesting facts about the show and music played.
Love this show hope it gets picked up.
Thank you for giving Privileged some love. It is a great show and Joanna Garcia as Megan is so charming! While i do miss hot Jacob, I’m glad she and Will are together. I would love to see more Marco though.
I watched the pilot, and I really didn’t like it so I haven’t watched any other episodes. I think it’s because I hate how the CW only can make new shows that are about rich people, I want a little more diversity and nothing about this show felt special to me.
I love love love this show! I didn’t catch the pilot until after I was hook, line and sinker for the 2nd episode! It’s classic TV, I hope it stays around.. definately beats Desperate Housewives by a long shot!!!
