Three new videos from three popular divas. Ch-ch-check ‘em out, then click through past the jump to our poll questions about which clip (and which song) you like best.
Christina Aguilera, "Keeps Getting Better"
Concept: Blonde, hoodie-wearing Xtina directs her bewigged alter-egos as they strut through a series of low-budget green-screen landscapes.
Plusses: Dancing "plasma blobs" should be required in every video forever; floral minidress sequence reminiscent of Estée Lauder ad featuring Madonna’s "Love Profusion"; kinda digging the funky mini robot, too.
Minuses: Dime-store hairpieces hardly appropriate for A-list recording artist; catwoman ensemble looks like rejected uniform for underground wrestling competitor; how many more motorcycle/convertible video montages must a nation of music lovers endure before fresh concepts are embraced by major-label artists?
Accompanying song: Hellaciously hot dance track has been in constant rotation on my iPod for several weeks now.

Mariah Carey, "I Stay in Love"
Concept: Vegas showgirl’s longing for and jealousy over her fit, fabulous ex-beau reaches boiling point, results in vehicular explosion.
Plusses: Gorgeous cinematography, hot boots, and let’s be honest, Mariah’s bod looks totally smokin’, even if her entire wardrobe should be donated to a charity benefiting teenage strumpets and/or truck-stop hookers. Also: That Wentworth Miller 2.0 ain’t hard on the eyes, either.
Minuses: Murky plotting and many burning questions: How come Mariah’s showgirl moves are so lethargic? Why does Mariah drive to the middle of the desert to explode the car, then leave herself stranded? How come the one-time happy couple’s bed is also located in the middle of the desert? Plus, there’s that played-out "diva driving with the top down" device again!
Accompanying song: A slower, less addictive variation on "We Belong Together"
Hilary Duff, "Reach Out"
Concept: One-time Disney star attempts to reinvent self as adult sex-symbol by cavorting in seedy mansion setting with scantily clad, disembodied man-meat.
Plusses: Can’t think of anything good to say about the video, but at least the track features an insanely catchy sample of "Personal Jesus."
Minuses: Sadly, that Depeche Mode sample is brutalized and left lifeless by the side of the road by the end of "Reach Out." As for the video clip, where to start? The gray, fetid-looking grapes and other assorted foodstuffs that serve as the backdrop to Duff’s bacchanal? The way the fingerprinty mirror makes my heart and soul cry out for a big bottle of Windex and a roll of paper towels? The attempts to pay fashion tributes to Madonna’s "Like a Virgin" wedding dress and any of ex-boyfriend Joel Madden’s unfortunate hats? Or, as my colleague Shirley Halperin disgustedly points out, the general American apparel-ness of the whole sordid video?
Accompanying song: Gah!

I honestly didn’t like any of those videos. But the most heinous was Hilary Duff’s, just because of the smudged mirror.
That doesn’t even sound like Hilary Duff. She needs to lay off the auto tune.
like the xtina but da&*# any song with a sample of personal Jeasus sounds good.
Now I am listening to the OG Version
Damn, I wish Mariah would release Migrate as a single from E=MC2. It’s a sure-fire and much-deserved hit. I think I Stay in Love is nice, but definitely a watered-down We Belong Together, and I can’t say I see it becoming a hit after a couple of singles in a row that failed to ignite much excitement (see Bye Bye and I’ll Be Lovin’ You Long Time). I think she needed something big like Migrate to put her back on track.
mariah carey have da hottest song out of hiary duff song
mariah carey have da hottest song out of hiary duff song
Mariah, of course. Christina Aguilera is scary and Hilary Duff is pretty lame.
Mariah’s video is a mix of Kanye’s Flash Lights and her own video for Breakdown.. but both Flash Lights and Breakdown were better videos.
Christina of course. Shes always changing it up and isn’t afraid to do something different. Plus, the video is artistic, unique and visually beautiful.
X-Tina wins both best video and song but Hilary’s ditty is kinda juicy in a guilty pleasure kind of way. I see myself secretly downloading it and dancing around to it. Mariah? Meh. It was more of the same, in my opinion.
Christina’s new song sucks. It is boring, and has awful lyrics. The video is very late, looks cheap, and dear god the outfits are horrendous.
Mariah’s campaign has been screwed up since “Bye Bye” was released. This song is just as good as “We Belong Together.” Not better not worse. The video makes no sense however.
Hilary’s is actually a very good song for an overused demo and the video at least shows her sexy side. It also seems like a natural progression and is a perfect goodbye release from Disney.
do i HAVE to pick one?
Of course Hilary’s. It’s a NEW hot Sexy Hilary Duff. She has officially left the teens and caught up with the grown ups. LOVE IT! im a fan
Christinas ‘Keeps Gettin’ Better’ of course!!!! on the television its HOT HOT HOT @_@ !!!!!!!!
The songs and the videos, together or separate – they’re all crap. The fact that a writer for a popular magazine would have any of it on “constant rotation” just goes to show you how much corporate media brainwashes people.
is hilary duff serious?
so not appropriate for the 12 year olds who might actually buy her albums and so not appealing to anyone else..who lets her put out this crap?
The Hilary vid was bad, and the song was only okay. I think it’s kinda cool that Hilary is getting away from the whole Disney bubble gum pop image though. And she didn’t even have to wear assless chaps! I still kinda miss the Xtina from those Stripped days… but the new Xtina is good too, even though she is looking more and more like Lady Ga Ga every day.
How many albums has Hilary Duff released?? Is this not her second greatest hits compilation?? She’s only had 1 or 2 hits?? Are artists willing to make such blatant cash grabs these days, just to make a quick $$$ ?? And that Duff’s fans are of a younger, more naive age is shameful of her!! And that the new songs are so blantantly horrible is even more shameful!! How do companies and artists get away with this?? Is this not the main reason for piracy and illegal downloading, companies taking advantage of us?? How are we supposed to feel bad about downloading products for free when companies continue to make idiots out of us with s*** like this ??
PS – Mariah’s song is the better song; though the video is an bizarre mix of awesome & awkward.
I’m a Mariah fan but seriously what the f*&% with that video? I’m now convinced that Mariah directs her videos. She is so concerned with people seeing how good her body is. Those shots with her laying on the ground in her showgirl costume? She looked like she was paralyzed or something, she looked so uncomfortable. And her dancing as the showgirl was pathetic. Also, she looked mighty unsteady on her feet walking away from the exploding car. I just think this video is a mess. The song is decent.
definately christina, that song is hot. video was cool, love her in the hooded sweatshirt, shes a really cool artist.
Troy…. The reason for Hilary releaseing ANOTHER hits compilation album was not her choice. Hilary was in the process of recording her album and had 5 songs recorded already, THEN Hollywood wanted her to hurry it up but Hilary duff have the time to so they just told Hilary that they didnt want to wait so this happened. Hollywood is such a bad record label who doesnt even promote their singers.
Glad Hilary wil be leaving them at the end of this year =)
“That Wentworth Miller 2.0 ain’t hard on the eyes, either.”… awesome Slezak! I knew I could count on you
The question should be which one can look the sluttiest in her video, which leaves Duff out.
Actually Hilary’s song itself isn’t bad but it should’ve been sung by Kylie who would’ve made it smoking hot!! Seriously, picture it in her hands…..
Why is it that Christina looks more and more like linda hogan these days?
C’mon why is this even a question… Clearly the Best Video and Best Song is by the Greatest Female Vocalist Ever Mrs. Mariah Carey!!!!
Mariah’s body is so retouched! Anybody can have a hot body nowadays, if mariah can, Aretha Franklin can.
xtina keeps gettin worst.hilary looks like mariah’s age and mariah looks like hilary’s age
leave the singing to mariah, the acting to hilary and the shutting up and rearing children to xtina
