Britney Spears’ new single, "Womanizer," officially* debuted this morning on NYC’s Z100. Listen below.
Slezak’s gut IM reaction: "J’loathed.** I feel like it was created in a lab in 20 minutes. A Swedish lab. ‘Is sounding like hit, yes?’ And then she sips her frap and shrugs and lays down the track and goes back home. ‘Toxic’ was the last song of hers that felt exciting to me."My take: It starts off a bit Katy Perry, then ends all Pussycat Dolls (and I totally miss "Toxic" Britney, too!). That said, when I listened a second time, I was singing along to "Boy don’t try to front, I-I know just-just know what you are are-are" and trying to pretend that I didn’t hear-hear her say something about a lollipop and a sucker. I won’t buy the single, but I also won’t change the station if I happen to hear it.Your turn.
* We thought it better not to pass judgment on those grainy "Womanizer" snippets leaked on the internet last week.

The song isn’t that good…. but I don’t think that will stop it from being a hit.
This is actually great song!! Can’t wait for the new album.
at least it isn’t that baby/breathy voice
Its amazing to me how little Britney has to do to get the attention of so many. She can’t sing.. never could.
It isn’t quite as good as i wanted it to be unfortunately. With all the great songs on “Blackout” i was hoping for a better lead single. I don’t hate it, and I’ll probably pick it up to support her as an artist. I’m also thinking it’ll grow on me.. i wasn’t crazy about “Gimme more” at first either, but.. it grew on me enough. The clips of the other songs from the album sound much better than this lead single, so.. i still have high hopes for the album.
I think it is good, but I dont care much for all the talking she does in it but hey, if I can dance to it then its alrightby me!
The deal-sealer or -breaker for me will be how good the video is. I thought Toxic was doable aurally, but paired with that pitch-perfect video, I was sold. I agree with some of the previous comments; I wish I could undeniably tell that it was Britney. When I heard it leaked on the radio this morning, I turned it on in the middle of the song and I kept jumping back-and-forth about who I thought “sang” it:
“Oh, a new Christina synth-fest? No wait, there’s about 14 background vocals, gotta be the P-Dolls. Hang on, it’s clubby. Is this September?” WHY CAN’T I TELL ONE SYNTH-SKANK FROM THE OTHER?!
This song is great! So fun and catchy.
I thought it was a rad song, and shes a rockstar so I’ll support it until the end! But the video will make or break it, (IE. Break the ice wtf? lol)
its pretty amazing!
alot less synth on her vocals i’d say
its very virtual & vuturistic feeling
shes singing more naturally
its like her new voice
i love the womanizer-woma womanizer
its very catchy, & very dancy
prob another hit from the great britney, i think the video will put it all together with the director of stronger & toxic
shoot, its bound to be all over the tv screen
you you you, are a womanizer
i like it, catchy song
I won’t buy it either, but I’ll watch the video when it comes out, and I’d listen to the first third or so on the radio (which is what I do when early Destiny’s Child comes on the radio, which is what this sounds like). With Pussycat Dolls and Dannity Kane going #1, I don’t see how Britney would have any problems coming back.
Yah know what….it’s not bad. Its definitely going to grow on me (and probably you as well). She’s infectious, whether you like it or not.
Katy Perry & The Pussycat Dolls are just cheap knock-offs of Britney, this song is better than anything they’ve sh*t out.
Good start Britney! Lookin forward to the video!
I really like this song, I’ve heard it twice this morning and it’s got the potential to grow on people…
Great job Ms. Spears!!!
Slezak, bow down to the legend that is Brit Brit, and pay penance…this is just a throwaway song, its good, but better stuff is yet to come … why the Brit hate? bow down, beotch!
