EW and TWOP's 2008 Tubey Awards: The winners!

Losttriangle_lTelevision Without Pity and EW teamed up recently to launch the 2008Tubey Awards, asking readers to select the best and worst TV shows, performances, characters, and basically anything else that comes fromthe boob tube. No program was too big (paging the doctors of Grey’sAnatomy), too small (looking at the little critics’ darling known as MadMen), or too reviled (hey there, Living Lohan!) to compete.

After the jump, you’ll find the top 15 categories, as well as two winners foreach — one as chosen by TWoP readers, the other picked by the editorsand critics of Entertainment Weekly. Everyone agreed on the awesomeness of Lost (pictured) and 30 Rock, but little else. For the complete list of winnersfrom all 60 categories, go here.So whose side are you on — TWOP Readers or EW Staff? Imagine "EWStaff" surrounded by a cloud of small, rainbow-colored hearts (like you probs do already) to aid in your decision. Personally, I’m torn, but don’t tell anyone — I’d be so embarrassed.

Cash Cab is a great pick. It’s a great show. Survivor over the Bravo shows and So You Think You Can Dance? I don’t think so.

  • Heath

Jon & Kate Plus 8? Really? Gross.

  • strickens_girl

Neil Patrick Harris put me over the top for TWoP. Sorry EW but your choices fall short.

  • Tony

For the most part EW got the better picks, especially with Mad Men as best new show. I’d have put The Wire in best drama, though. Top Chef as best reality. And TWOP is right about According to Jim being the worst comedy. Two and a Half Men isn’t good, but it’s not nearly as bad as Jim.

I’m surprised Tyra didn’t get her fierce-shaking fingers on this list. Totally the best talk show AND reality competition. How does Mrs. Klum-Seal’s three German words compare to Ms. Banks’ endless eye-smiling axioms? And how existential are her Fiercee awards? I wish people would she her the way I do: as more than just an ugly-pretty face.

  • Moxie

Love EW’s outside-the-box picks of Cash Cab (::::sigh::::: Ben Bailey) and Jon & Kate Plus 8!!

  • Jennifer

The Tubeys kinda sucked this year, but they are still better than the Emmys. Glad to see wins for BSG and Lost.

  • Smoochie

Smarmy reality Show Host you’d Most Like to tether to electrodes and then hit the switch: Alex Trbek!

  • Kathleen

Neil Patrick Harris wins at everything. Except for the things that BSG wins. I’ll never leave you, Popwatch, but I’m seriously considering taking TWoP as a mistress. What up.

  • C

Except for The Simpsons as best cartoon, I agree with all of the TWoP picks.

  • aps

    Jon & Kate Plus 8!!! woohooo!!!1

  • tiger

Picks for the Wire and Friday Night Lights cast put me with you EW.

  • Greg

Does anyone else thing TwoP is a LOT less fun now that SarS, Wing Chun & Glark aren’t in charge anymore?

  • Lucy

“General Hospital”? What crew of idiots picked THAT?

  • Meredith44

I have to say, for the most part, I prefer the TWoP list to yours. I don’t care for Mad Men or Friday Night Lights and love BSG. Sorry. (The Jon & Kate Plus 8 pick is what solidly put me on the TWoP side. I don’t get EW’s fascination with that show. I hate the way Kate treats the children (and Jon) most of the time, and I couldn’t make it through more than 2 1/2 episodes because of it. I really feel sorry for those kids.)

    TWOP is a popular board

  • Jackie

Gotta go with TwoP’s picks, though I din’t agree with BSG. (I’m just not into it; I’m sure its a fine show.) What really did it was Pushing Daisies followed by NPH and Project Runway.

  • Rachel K

I love you EW guys but i have to go w/ TWoP. They picked Battlestar Galactica and NPH in How I met Your Mother. And while I do agree with your assessment on the Colbert Report over The Daily Show, Survivor…. really? How can I support that?

  • kim in kentucky

so glad that Neil Patrick Harris and Pushing Daisies made the list!!

  • Eric

I love how you people will put Lost in main picture even if it is of only passing reference in the actual article. BSG is great, but so overrated by internet geeks like the TWOP gang.

  • Lee

    Wowwww. This list sucks balls.

  • Rob Grizzly

I remember voting for The Office for best cast. I’m surprised others didn’t do the same.

  • Debbie

I love that you picked Cash Cab as best game show. My mom, who died of ovarian cancer August 16, LOVED that show but when I mention that no one ever heard of it.
