Fresh off a hot streak of not being a huge disaster for a few weeks, Britney’s decided to release her upcoming album, Circus. We might have gone with Frappe, Blackhole, or I Had the Most Unbeweavable Year, but Circus really is quite apt. It’ll come out on Britney’s 27th birthday, December 2, which seems a little early, as her last effort dropped only last fall. Blackout sold almost 900K copies, nowhere near the haul of Brit’s previous megamillion sellers. (Ugh, I hate when horrible people like me point that out. I’m always like — in the voice of Ms. J — "Girllllll, I’ll TAKE the toy car load of royalty money from one of those "less successful" albums if you don’t want it! Betch.)
Anyway, give us your fall music forecast in the poll below!

Where have you been, Annie? I’ve missed you!
When will people just let Britney go!! She never could sing and her version of pop is sooooooooo done. She doesn’t have to do much and the media goes all nuts for her. MTV gave her those awards she didn’t deserve them and what does MTV know about music anyway. They should have given the 2008 Hot A$$ Mess award.
Vacation! I’ve missed you too, anonymous.
OMJONAS, Brittney your pretty much only going on now with the millions of rednecks who actually buy your CDS and the only reason you won any VMAs was due to the fact MTV feels bad for bashing you last year. Its sad that you even pretend to be popular based on your music!!!THATS THE KICKER!!!ahhahahahaha
Generalize much? And weren’t the VMA’s voter based this year. So it was the fans who voted for Britney. I admit she had stronger video’s in the past. But given some of those nominees, “Piece of Me” was steller in comparison. I do think MTV manipulated Britney last year, but I don’t think they gave to her as payback. Now, I am excited about her new CD. And I am not red neck. I love her music. She was never the strongest singer but she’s talented and I love her CDs. I thik one of the reasons her last CD didn’t do as well because her personal life was a distraction and her fragile mental health and a lack of promotion. This time she is looking well on the way to recover and this might do well. Even though “Blackout” was exceptional. A critical success for a change. Can’t wait to see what this first new single, “Womanizer” sounds like.
Although it did have to grow on me a bit at first, I now think Blackout was her best album. I can’t wait to hear Circus! No one’s music is better for getting me fired up at the gym!
I think how well Circus performs depends on whether Britney can actually perform and how well. As far as the VMA wins, the fans voted for the nominees but mtv voted for the winners except for best new artists. Thats the only category the fans voted the winner in. Britney’s winning was nothing more then gratuitous on the part of mtv since Piece Of Me was a piece of crap compared to her other videos. They were just making up for letting her perform last year when they had to know she wasn’t up to it.
I love how people always complain and begrudge Britney Spears. Obviously, somebody is listening/buying/cares… she continues to sell albums, videos, perfume, and magazines. Plus, the haters still take the time to discuss her in chatrooms and blogs. If you don’t give a sh*t, why are you so adament about voicing her dislike?
Personally, I’m looking forward to it, just as I have with her past albums. As has been mentioned, Britney is good gym and club music, her form of pop music is always a good time. Plus, sounds like she has some major production on this.
Good for her, I’ll for sure buy it (and nor am I a “redneck” but rather a university educated individual who happens to enjoy something you dont)
The only reason Blackout did not sell well is because of it’s lack of promotion. Brit didn’t do any press for the album. The mtv wins seems to be a publicity stunt for the new album. The people who say that no one cares about Britney? Everytime she is on the cover of a magazine, it sells through the roof!
Blackout woulda been slammin if Britney was, oh-I-dunno-CONSCIOUS during its promotion and ENTIRE run on the shelves. I hope she promo-teases us until December with a few almost-disasters (i.e. a well-documented trip to a suspicious orthodontist, coming out of Starbuck’s with, gasp, no whip!). I mean srslies, my heart can’t take any more rehab or baby-dropping scares, but I know for a fact imma gonna needta be weaned.
PS- Annie, I absolutely CANNOT wait for DWTS to premiere; not because I enjoy near-octogenarians testing their bone density on a weekly basis, but because of DWTS Talk! My fave!
As long as the album is as good as “Blackout” was, then it will have no problem selling.
Brit did no press for Blackout so the sales tanked. Her phopa from the 2007 MTV Music Awards did not help either. People forgot that Blackout was released the DAY AFTER the music awards. I am glad to see her recover ala Mariah Carey style with a new producer, etc. Still while I still think that she can’t sing, if you have a good audio team working with you, anything can happen…and it did.
Blackout is an awesome dance album. I find more listenable than all of her previous albums put together. It’s unfortunate that the charades in her personal life gave people a reason to shun her best musical effort.
Blackout wasn’t released the day after the VMA’s. It was released on Halloween. Early, because it had leaked or was in danger of being leaked. But Gimme More was newly out when she did the infamous performance at the VMA’s. I agree, lack of promotion and her mental state and personal issues were a big reason why people ignored “Blackout” even though it was a fantastic CD. Britney is one in a million. She truly looks to be getting her life together, and I truly hope this next CD is a huge success for her…
Britney doesn’t contribute anything to her music. So of course the cd will be good. The producers are the ones who create the hot beats and then they computerize Britney’s voice – since we all know that she can’t sing. The cd might do well but its not like Britney is responsible for the content of the music.
