How does one go about shutting down an Apple Store in Manhattan without a computer virus? Duh: Just import the Jonas Brothers.
Tuesday night—the day the band’s third album, A Little Bit Longer, went on sale—the trio drew the masses to NYC’s SoHo Apple Store for a "secret" performance. And as EW’s go-to reporter for all things Jonas, I was sent downtown to take a listen. Okay, not to listen to the Jonas Brothers, per se, but rather, to listen to hundreds of girls screaming at the top of their lungs (while listening to the siblings Jonas).
Interestingly enough, the hour-long set wasn’t announced publicly until Tuesday morning, yet insatiable fans had been lined up since Monday night. The gals put their dedication on display: While the Brothers sang "When You Look Me in the Eyes," one group of rabid fans held a sign that proudly screamed, "Here since 4 a.m.!" The crazy thing about all this, too, is that most of the attending fans had already seen the JoBros somewhere else during the week: The Apple Store show merely topped off a week of Jonasmania in NYC, highlighted by the band’s guest-hosting stint on TRL, a Good Morning America concert that drew 15,000 eardrum-busting fans into the city’s Bryant Park, and three sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden.
The Apple Store event, however, was intimate—and a fitting celebration at the end of a day that saw the new Jonas album strike No. 1 on both Amazon and iTunes by early morning. (Their first, out-of-print album, meanwhile, now fetches up to $350 on sites like eBay. We’re guessing that’s approximately three months’ worth of the average tween’s allowance.) Just 450 fans—including a Croc-wearing Harry Connick Jr. and his smitten daughter—were allowed inside (free of charge) for the 12-song Apple Store set, set-off by "That’s Just the Way We Roll." Hands down, though, the screaming throngs—most of them wearing puff-paint covered t-shirts, while nearby adults inserted ear plugs—most enjoyed "A Little Bit Longer," the ballad Nick wrote about his battle with diabetes. Several diabetic girls were in the crowd, as evidenced by shirts that proclaimed things like, "I’m Not Diabetic! I’m Sugar Challenged!"
The night’s final tune couldn’t have been more fitting: Summer anthem “Burnin’ Up” (yup, Big Rob was there and got his rap on, wearing a "Big Rob’s For Real" t-shirt) brought up the rear as two ambulances outside treated a slew of fainting gals, who had, predictably, overheated. Perhaps the Brothers need to remind their fans they’re just lyrics—not words to live by.
But PopWatchers, weigh in: Have you ever seen the Jonas Brothers live? What’d you think? Are the Jonas Brothers are ambulance-worthy? I mean, I’m talking about actual humans in need of medical attention here.

I took my 12 year old cousin to see them in April, we sat in the boonies, and it was still a good show. After that, I was hooked!! We saw them in July in the 6th row and it was an amazing concert!! I’m 23, so it goes to show these guys can appeal to all ages!
Moms love the JoBros. Cute, respectable and they sing “our” eighty’s syle music!
We have seen the JB’s twice in the last year – once in October opening for Hannah/Miley and recently last month. They rocked – and this from a Bon Jovi and Def Leppard devotee! Have already swiped their latest CD to load on my IPod!
Of course, let’s see if in 20 years they still rock like Bon Jovi does now – Also took my daughter to see Bon Jovi this last year – and they solidly remain her number 2 band behind Joe, Nick and Kevin.
And I thought I was Joe’s future MIL!
My friend and I saw them at MSG on Monday night (I’m 20, she’s 18), we even though we were totally embarrassed at first, we felt better when we saw a bunch of other girls our age. And once they started playing, we couldn’t care less. The Jonas Brothers were AWESOME. They are SO high-energy, so terrific, they play AND write their own music? Can we even call them a boy band? They are in their own category because they are SO much better than anyone else.
And ambulance worthy? If I had been 14 and that close to them? I may have fainted too. I’m not ashamed to say that I now LOVE the Jonas Brothers. (And it’s totally fine – Kevin is 20 too, so I don’t feel like a creep for liking them).
Wait… Harry Connick Jr. was there?!?! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh yeah… sorry. Jonas Brothers. I’ve only seen one live television appearance (Idol finale, I think) and I wasn’t really impressed vocally. Probably because I couldn’t hear much, but they did put on an entertaining show. Their new album is getting very positive reviews, though, so I should check it out.
who wants free jonas brothers tickets? Go here. http://www.bluelionfoundation.org/?jonas=1155
Ahhhhhhhhhh! i can’t believe i got to see them live! if only i could of met the band hottie Nick
Never seen JB but they are everywhere & it took my 5 & 7 year old daughters all of 30 seconds to learn the whole song Burnin’ Up…guess I’ll be heading to the store to buy that CD…
They have such high energy, and they put on a wonderful show. You will definitely have a great time.
They really don’t sound that good live though most of their songs are quite good – but then again, a lot of pop sensations don’t have the best voices but their music is still great isn’t it?
They give new meaning to the meaning of POP(ULAR) music
Though nobody should be faint-worthy… that’s just worrying.
I saw them in Anahiem, CA. I was at the show that they filmed for the 3D movie….It was great. I am 19.
i just love u guys so much i want to go and see u in concert 20 years from now keep up your good work and for keeping me and my 50 year old mother happy with your music she is also a diabetic nick she knows how is to wake up and to see me one more day Nick she just loves you more . I love the Jonas Brothers so much!! They are such awesome guys. I think I would have fainted to just to see them play live would be amazing! I LOVE their new CD. Yeah sure I get made fun of by people in my class for liking the Jonas Brothers, and I am only 13, but I know good music when I hear it!! Nick Jonas rocks my socks I love him!! <3<3<3<3
yeah. they are ambulance-worthy. jonas brothers are the best!
Hey older girls down here, 28 year old superfan here – it’s all good!! They are simply amazing.
Adult perspective: Completely ambulance-worthy.
I think they sound great live (NO ONE sounds just like a record, peeps – in their case, that can even be a plus!! Even so, they often sound remarkably close…)
The energy at their shows is transcendent…I’ve seen them do a free mall in-stores acoustic set, a short set on radio tour, and on their last 2 solo tours. I am always blown away by their showmanship and fan-love. (The closer to the stage, the better, of course…)
Bottom line: Adorable, studied but not contrived stage manner, fine musicianship and an easy, fun vibe all around.
no not ambulance death worthy …they are not god …. i like the jonas brothers alot but girls fainting for them that is just stupid i mean i knwo some jb fan wil ltry and get my message removed but serisouly a girl going to a hopstial because she “over heated”
oh boy the people in the e.r. room will have a good laugh that night !!
Lmao …..
Girls fainting at concerts is hardly new. My parents’ generation reacted that way to Elvis.
I don’t think I’m completely out of touch: I have little kids, I watch several popular prime time TV shows and still listen to music on the radio in addition to my iPod, but today was the first time I ever heard of the Jonas Brothers. I expect my daughter will be introducing me to their music some day soon.
Yeah, they rewally are ambulance worthy to some girls. I’ve been to a couple of there free concerts at the one in Universal Orlando of 15 girls were pulled out of the crowd that day. Then the next one for The Disney Channel Games they stopped counting when they hit 50 pulled out of the floor. And at both concerts they had to give water due to de-hyrdration. But they have always been amazing preformers…… so yeah.
Are they ambulance worthy? Ummm, YEAH!! Have you SEEN these young men?! What’s not to like? They’re polite, they make their parents proud, love their friends and family, and each other, they write beautiful songs, and always make their fans feel appreciated. I can’t see anything wrong with any of that. And did I mention they are VERY, VERY easy on the eyes? My teenage daughters are obsessed with them and if I was a lot younger, they would be fair game
We’ve been to 2 of their concerts – Atlantic City and Hershey Pennsylvania, and we waited more than 8 hours in line to see them in Bryant Park in New York. It was worth it – they did not disappoint. They are a talented group of guys and they are living the dream. Good for them!!
Those boys are amazing…they are so great and so talented! My opinion–they definitely ARE ambulence worthy! I went to both of their concerts in Anaheim on July 13-14 and they blew me away both times! But the 2nd time, I was part of the casted audience so I was right by the catwalk. Not just standing around the catwalk, but I was actually right by the stage and not behind anybody…so I got to touch all of them and watch the show up close! It was amazing….they really are the best…they are worth a trip to the E.R.
i wouldnt mind! I love them and they are such a great influence to me and to others. They’re different from the rest of hollywood and thats what i love about them! God bless them and their family always!
I am a 55 year old father of a 13 year old. We took her to a JB concert in Dallas and before long I was screaming like the rest of them. They are great entertainers!
I took my daughter to see them for her birthday in July, and we sat in the seventh row. Gotta admit, we had a blast. They were great live, and she was mezmerized by Nick. I, however, woke up with a migraine-worthy headache the next morning, thanks to the throngs of screaming girls…..
hey i think u guys r sooo coool i love u all <3<3 p.s u r sooo talinted
I was there @ the apple store it was great! #44 lmao.
It was awesome I was one of the girls holding the sign “here since 4 a.m” lmao
I love the jonas brothers!
It was deff worth the wait!
THE JONAS BROTHERS SUCK @SS!!!! i HOPE TO SEE THEIR OBITUARIES IN THE PAPER REAAAAAL SOON!
Hello? Of course these guys are ambulance-worthy! They’re AMAZING! and gorgeous and totally talented :] I’m a 16 year old girl who’s been a huge fan since 2005. and every year I just start to love them even more! These boys are beyond amazing. They’re amazing entertainers. I just went to the August 7th concert and it was BEYOND amazing. Safe to say, I lost my voice due to all the excessive screaming that was done. but hey, sooo totally worth it! They did great, and heck, they looked mega HOT! I was burnin’ up for those three :]
THEY ARE TOTALLY AMBULANCE WORTHY!!! They rock and are soooo talented, not to mention cute
Happy Birthday Joe!
