I’m going to hope and pray that Isis is not the new version of Heather. I wish her all the best of luck, but if the series starts to center on her and the fact that she is transsexual – I am assuming she is a full physical female, at least in most ways – I will have some bones to pick.
Sarah, I am a former model and I do have Trisomy X. I did not know this at the time of my modeling. Most Triple-X women are never diagnosed. My sex chromosomes do not make me any less female! Imagine how ridiculous it would be to have a category entitled, “Female, Plus Additional Female Chromosome(s)” in the gender scope. “Me and my girls” are classified as female, plain and simple. Granted, the original term for the condition was “super females.”
See what I’ve done here? I’ve turned this into being all about me, and people like me. That is what Heather did in the previous season of America’s Next Top Model. That is what Isis may very well do. I hope otherwise.

Hello. I am the producer of Taxicab Confessions and we have been including rides on transgender folks for a dozen years. I give Tyra Banks a lot of credit for including Isis this season. Transgender men and women have an amazing perspective on life and relationships, and Isis will undoubtably add a lot to the series. We have a series on our network, http://www.CrushedPlanet.com , that follows a group of transgender beauty pageant contestants, called Gender Blender. These women show a strength and honesty and sense of humor that is truly inspiring.

That may be true for you, Prudence, but I know several people who fall into all three catagories (worked with a support group a friend belonged to). XXX is the least commonly diagnosed – and it is most commonly found when a person develops medical conditions associated with it. Most xxx look like women, and many never know – but that doesn’t mean there aren’t unusual features associated with it – and that doesn’t mean people don’t get unwanted attention from those features. The reason why I listed that one last was because it is the most “passable”, save the medical problems. The other two groups are a bit more troublesome. Most can’t reproduce in either catagory, those with X are small and usually never develop traditional feminine charactoristics, those with XXY often have gender confusion, inability to reproduce, and can be born with male and female “parts”. There are several other rare sex v gender issues that do cause problems – so yes, you were fine – so don’t make it about you.

Yes, Sarah, I am aware of all of this as all of the above applies to me. I was trying to show how making everything all about one person and the differences of one person is irritating. If Isis is continually seen as the odd girl out, or the token “different” model, this will annoy viewers. That is all I am saying.

I spent one hour reading all the comments and find it very interesting. To all the people who cant understand transgender people I would advise you to do some research and educate yourself instead of maintaing such a bigoted and narrow view. Transgender people deserve to be respected in this world and for some of you it may be easier to accept it if you consider the possibility of a third sex. Transgender people are different. They are very emotional people and have a unique outlook on their life that we can all learn from. They show immense courage, humour and humility. You dont need to be an expert on such medical matters but the key issue is hormones. Someone below mentioned about the fine line between men and women and they are absolutely right. We are all people.
But the issue here is Isis and her attendance on the ANTM. The competition is about modelling. If she can model better than the others she will win. If she does not win I hope she continues modelling and inspires others.

Educate yourself, so that you can educate your family. It’s rude and animal like when someone treats you like an enemy for no reason , because they are not born perfect. We have it had enough in life trying to get jobs, and make a living for ourselves. Babies are born everyday with imperfections, and a child knows that they are different at a young age, the parents say “it’s a phase and they will grow out of it”, then freak out when they grow up and become what they have always been mentally. Listen to your kids, they know what they need.

I for one am very excited about this, i believe she should be given a fare go and i would not be surprised if Tyra makes he condition a focal point all though it should be discreet. us transgenders dont ask to be born this way all we want is to be who we realy are inside, just imagin if it where your child or brother mother sister or father? even best friend. i hope for her sake she wins. i love all you who support us and all of you who can relate. xo feel free to add me if your TG. lotl_babes@hotmail.com xo

I am transgendered also, and my friends keep tellin me to be a model for the TG community magazines and stuff like that. I soooooo want to do this in the worst way, but in this society people are sooooo damn judgemental, and I agree with one post on here……DO YOUR EFFIN HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU THINK YOU KNOW ALL ABOUT WHAT A TG PERSON IS!!!!!!
