VH1's 'I Love Money': The most honest reality show ever?

Heatherrockoflove_lWhile watching last night’s premiere of VH1’s I Love the New Millennium (more on that to come), I caught a promo for what could be the most blatantly honest reality show ever: I Love Money. Starring some of the best (and by "best," I mean most ridiculous) VH1 reality also-rans from Rock of Love (including slap-happy Heather, pictured), I Love New York, and Flavor of Love, the show pits contestants in a series of physical challenges, with the winner hauling away $250,000. The show premieres July 6, and I couldn’t be more excited (and not just because I’ve been missing those whackjob Rock of Love girls). I’m glad VH1 has finally greenlit a reality show that cuts to the chase. Because, really, why should contestants waste time pretending they’re looking for true love when all they want is a fat paycheck?

Here are the 17 contenders:

12 Pack (I Love New York)
Brandi C. (Rock of Love)
Chance (I Love New York)
Destiney (Rock of Love)
The Entertainer (I Love New York)
Heat (I Love New York)
Heather (Rock of Love)
Hoopz (Flavor of Love)
Megan (Rock of Love)
Midget Mac (I Love New York)
Mr. Boston (I Love New York)
Nibblz (Flavor of Love)
Pumkin (Flavor of Love)
Real (I Love New York)
Rodeo (Rock of Love)
Toasteee (Flavor of Love)
Whiteboy (I Love New York)

Who will you be rooting for?

    I’ll be rooting for penicillin.

  • Eric Friedmann

SLUTS AND MONEY!!! I love ‘em both – but not enough to watch reality TV!

  • djm

I am rooting for the Dept of Health to stop by and shut it down. Please VH1 – let these losers 15 minutes expire.

  • Snarf

A crippling eastern seaboard blackout (shades of Aug 2003 but longer) However I don’t think it will happen because at heart, I’m a pessimist.

  • Todd

I’m rooting for alcoholism and sluttiness, but I’d be ok if violence won too. Anyone for a three-way tie?

  • actingup

I am hoping VH1 will be yanked. It is now officially the worst channel on TV. Disgusting.

  • mikey

I can’t make up my mind between the drunken stripper or the ambiguously gay dude.

  • Robert

Can I root for a Jonestown situation here? Isn’t that really kind of what would be the best for the world?

  • Meghan

Remember when VH1 was actually watchable?

  • Dana

the only one of these fools I can stand is rodeo. You go girl

  • snarky

I’m with Todd on this one – rooting for alcholism, sluttiness and violence. But seriously, I love WhiteBoy and Midget Mac. Chance is CRAZY, so he is always some good tv. Putting it on the DVR list now, right next to “Intervention”

  • Elizabeth

I second Robert’s vote… but if I have to pick, I think Heather will get it done.
Maybe VH1 should just do 2 installments of the World Series of Pop Culture and skip an installment of “I Love (insert decade here).

  • Laurie

Damn, no Lacey??? In that case I am rooting for bad weaves and challenges involving spelling.

  • AB

Hey, at least there’s no pretense or hypocrisy here. The worst part about these shows for me is when the ’star’ kicks someone off for being there for the ‘wrong reason’, when they themselves are only there to keep their face on TV. I mean, we already knew these people were just media wh*res and now they’re coming out and admitting it. What’s wrong with that? Of course these people are morally repugnant, but again we already knew that. Nobody’s forcing you to watch the show.

  • becks

I agree with Elizabeth– I vote for a double shot of the World Series of Pop Culture

  • MsDaisy

Breaking News from VH1: On July 1, 2008, VH1 will officially change it’s name to “Skanks & Ho’s”. We believe this new name better reflects our programming values.

  • Scott

MTV/VH1 blows. A total waste of airtime. Anyone who sits and watches these channels is an imbecile. The dumbing down of America contines.

  • Eric Friedmann

Scott, I’m glad to see someone finally agrees with me! The last time I watched MTV and enjoyed it was back in 1984 when Van Halen’s album was brand new!

  • Carrie

I’m beginning to think that the apocalypse just isn’t coming.

  • MsDaisy

To Carrie…or even worse, it’s already here and this is it.

  • t3hdow

AB pretty much nailed it. Even the show’s title is not trying to be subtle about this show being for media whores. I’ll at least commend it for being honest, but that’s it. Don’t like it? Change the channel.
Besides Best Week Ever, I’m pretty much done with VH1. Some of their reality shows were amusing like Celebrity Fit Club and The White Rapper Show, and the World Series of Pop Culture had some decent moments, but somewhere within the Flavor/Rock of Love stage, VH1 turned into MTV and lost me.

  • Maribel

As a honor student in one of the top University in the U.S, I shamefully admit to watching these shows….shoot sometimes you just want to watch crap after a hard day of school work.

  • Demolish0r

Well its a good thing their are enough haters in this world like you keeping the people you hate the most so popular because the media and major tv reps are always looking for the most hated people around because they know idiots like some of you will watch it for the pure sake to bash whoever it may be so keep hating so we can see more tiffany “new york’ pollards get more air time on the worlds most renowned reality tv channels keep up the good work

  • Megan

Great game where you choose 3 of these train wrecks and earn points when they get drunk, hook up, fight, (aka: all the time)

  • Paula

Well, I have this channel on during the week in the am whilst dressing for my working day as the music motivates me! But I forgot to switch it today and turned it on. OMG that ugly little creature is making more television shows!! I watched an episode of I Love New York because I was fascinated that something so awful would be given airtime! Yep, its the dumbing down of America. Noone wants to ‘think’ any more. Yuck – what ghastly role models for the next generation!!
