A post on Eddie Cibrian today seems random, I know. (Hello, I filed it under "Apropos of Nothing.") But I’ve found myself contemplating his career recently, so I thought I’d go ahead and ask: What do you think of him?
A) I don’t.
B) He’s ready to headline his own show. (Probably on ABC, which appears to have a bit of a woody for him.)
C) While I’ve definitely enjoyed his recent guest spots on Samantha Who? and Ugly Betty (pictured), I’m not ready to watch a show just for him.
I’m gonna go with C. Partly because I’d miss seeing him pop up unexpectedly, like a cherry on top of a TV sundae. And partly because last weekend, when I Hulu’d Vanished, I watched all of Gale Harold’s episodes, but didn’t feel the need to soldier on when Cibrian replaced him as leading man. (Though perhaps that speaks more to that show than to Eddie.)
Regardless, I think we all have to admit that Cibrian is one of those fortunate actors who will only be getting better roles (and better looking) with age. Who else is on that list?

Three words.
Robert.Downey.Jr. He brought sexy back as Tony Stark.
Brad Pitt
Johnny Depp
Will Smith
Tom Cruise (love him or hate him he ain’t aging)
Mario Lopez
Prince (he turned 50 on Saturday!)
a lot.
David Boreanez (maybe playing a vampire keeps you looking good for years to come?)
Dennis Quaid!
Dylan McDermott is looking better with age. Even though “Big Shots” was pretty terrible, he was looking great!
I’m with you, Mandi..he’s certainly pretty to look at, but I don’t think “Leading Man” when I think of him. That may just be because he’s been a supporting actor to this point, but I see him as part of an ensemble, and not a star. Again, though, very pretty to look at.
I’ll probably get a bit of flack for this one, but I’m going to throw Harrison Ford in to the mix, because he looks damn good for a man in his 60s, and can still play Indy as we remember him. He’s just now starting to show his age.
I’m surprised no one mentioned McDreamy himself.
Matt Dillon! HOT HOT HOT
Christian Bale gets better looking every time he shows up at a film premiere. And, American Psycho? Batman Begins? 3:10 to Yuma? Gorgeous.
Eddie Cibrian is a very pretty man but he’s a very forgettable actor. It’s fun to see him pop up here and there mainly because it gives me the chance to say, “Hey! I know that guy from somewhere!” a lot but the fact that such an exclamation isn’t followed with an immediate visit to imdb.com tells me that I wouldn’t go out of my way to watch one of his shows.
As for actors who are aging well, I gotta say Hugh Laurie is much much much hotter now than he was during his gawky Jeeves and Wooster days! Also, Adam Baldwin looks even better now than he did in “Independence Day.” I got so excited when he was featured in an episode of Bones…maybe it’s his psychotic snarl that makes me weak…*sigh* Clearly, I follow the careers of these two men much more than I do that of the amazing unaging Eddie Cibrian.
Barry Watson has definitely gotten better w/ age. Seeing him on Samantha ho allows me to forget he was ever on 7th Heaven.
Blair Underwood. Has not aged a day since he was on LA Law.
I’m surprised you forgot about Tilt (although it was very short lived on ESPN). I enjoyed him in that AND he played a lead.
Muchas Gracias! Mandi comes through with some more Man Candy!
BTW: You forgot to mention his stint in the Canadian-friendly Boy Band “3Deep” with Joshua Morrow from “The Young and the Restless” and that other dude. (Can you see why I never bothered to learn his name!?)
A few that come to mind that IMO get hotter as they get older: Joe Mantenga, Viggo Mortensen, Chris Noth, Robert Downey Jr. and Keifer Sutherland. Excuse me, I think I need a cigarette…
Love Eddie- he’s much better in an ensemble though, like in Third Watch (LOTS of man candy on that show!) And I second the Barry Watson love- I watch just about anything he’s in.
Obscure hot older man – Trevor Eve, Brit stars in Waking the Dead on BBCA. Just keeps getting better (although maybe I am getting older too and that probably helps).
Robert Downey, Jr. (delicious)
Christian Bale
Hank Azaria
Chris Noth
Kyle Chandler
Blair Underwood (was I the only one yelling “Take me! Take me!” after Miranda dumped him on Sex and the City?)
Jason Bateman
Peter Krause
and the piece de resistance…
Edward Norton, aka the only man who if he approached me in the street and said, “Excuse me, will you have my baby?”, I would yell “YES!”
I also vote for David Boreanez (LOVE him on Bones), Christian Bale (remember when he was the cute kid in Empire of the Sun?), and Robert Downey Jr (SO much hotter now).
the beard and awful hair from Party of Five — yummy!
I’d like to add Matthew Fox to the list. Once he “Lost”
i’m thinking Wentworth Miller. the man is 35 and gets better looking every year.
I vote C – although I loved, loved, loved him on “Invasion” – does anyone else remember that show?
i agree with barry watson 100%. he never became the break out star that 7th heaven thought he would be, but once what about brian turned up, i was like, “damn he got hot.” and then samantha who? forever about it. it’s amazing what a haircut would do for a boy. i’m really interested to see where barry is going next (that’s what she said).
You’ll get no flack from me, Nose— definitely Harrison Ford! And I’ll add Richard Dean Anderson to the list. Both men have aged really well!
3DEEP… lol
I actually met the other guy, he’s Joshua Morrow’s brother or something. His daughter went to my school, this was obvs years ago when they were “popular”
johny depp; McDreamy; leo dicaprio;josh hartnett;
richard gere and george clooney peaked a few years ago but know they’re aging not so gracefully
Sorry, I didn’t read a word you said. Too busy looking………!
I like Eddie Cibrian — you never know when he’ll pop up and I always seem to like the show better when he’s on.
As for actors aging well, first name that popped in my mind was George Clooney. I’ll never forget him on “Roseanne” — so much better looking now. Honorable mentions: Kyle Chandler, Robert Downey Jr. and of course Leonardo DiCaprio — who can forget that scrawney kid on “Growing Pains” (or “Who’s the Boss” — those shows blend together for me).
I forgot Dean Cain. He reminds me of Cibriani. Have to admit, he’s one of my “secret” guilty pleasures.
David Boreanaz for sure. Also Jared Padalecki – I know he’s only 25, but compared to his Gilmore Girls day – ye-ow!
