    Should: Cook
    Will: Honestly, anybody’s guess

    Will: David Cook
    Should: Carly Smithson

  • Julia

Should win: David Cook, no question
Will win: No idea. I really think it could go either way, but I have a feeling the producers wish Cook would win- Archuleta winning would just show in an extremely public, obvious way that AI is not about choosing the next big current, contemporary recording artist anymore, if indeed it ever was.

I’m with Julia – I am suspect whoever wins this more so now than any other season. Not that I don’t want Cook to win, but if he does it’s going to be with an asterisk. Like Bonds or Clemens.

    Should Win: David Cook
    Will Win: David Cook
I just think David Cook has the best chance for a real career post AI in the mode of Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. And also AI needs a relevate male winner who actually sells. There is talk of a male winner curse. David A. would do well for his first CD, but he wouldn’t sell in his second or third. Cook would. I just think David Cook is more original, and more of a now artist for sales.
But then this American Idol, anything is possible. But I think David Cook will and should win.

Mike I love that you’re still rooting for Carly. Too bad we can’t have her in Archuleta’s place.
    Will: Cookie
    Should: Carly

A David C and Carly finale would have been amazing. But I’m a total David Cook fangirl so I’d still be rooting for him anyway.

    Should: David Cook
Will: It BETTER be David Cook. He has been the most inventive, consistent, and interesting contestant of the season. Archuleta has been stagnant in his growth— nothing of his comes close to his cover of Imagine, (in fact it may have been all downhill since then). But Cook leaves us with a legacy of terrific performances with Hello, Billie Jean, Always Be My Baby, Music of the Night, and First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. (And I would personally add more to that list, but I think everyone can agree those were terrific!)
Overall, the man deserves it. And he has the potential to write great songs and put out some relevant music, which I’m not sure Archuleta is ready or independent enough to do just yet.
Oh and PS- Cook is looking GREAT these days!

I agree with Stacey on the should win and your reasons. As far as will win, I agree with everyone who says it’s anyone’s guess. And part of me wants Archie to win, just so that Cook release an album that he’s had some control over (aka Daughtry).

    I say: who cares?

  • Ben

I say: who cares? Both are blah.

  • KG

    should: cook
will: archie (don’t underestimate the power of the tweens)
    who really should: carly

  • Jeannie

Someone who wasn’t even interested in auditioning (Cook) has sucked in an entire country. If David Cook wins – America will get what it deserves – another wannabe rocker with a bad comb-over. And the kid with the talent and desire will be overlooked. Too bad.

Alas, I had hoped for a David Cook/Carly Smithson finale, but I knew it wouldn’t happen.
    Who should win?…David Cook
Who will win?…Probably David Archuleta. He’s appears to have the tween & PTA mom vote.

  • Christina

David Cook should and will win. If not this series is going to be in even more trouble than it already is
