I have to agree with my friend Mandi Bierly. This was one of the best Bones ever, if only for Brennan’s priceless interactions with the baby, whose murdered mom was the primary victim this episode. Brennan’s initial desire to remain distanced and logical when it came to baby Andy were hilarious. From her declaration that "Elephants are not purple. This is wrong" to her notation that while bears often adorn children’s clothing, "in reality they would devour a small child." Too funny. And a great balance to the sadness of the situation in the economically depressed Virginia town, where the victim’s embezzling boss killed her and an accountant who found him out.
Didn’t you know that as soon as Brennan connected with the baby as a fellow child whose mother is dead—not to mention that they both had felons for fathers—she would be all in? I would’ve loved to have seen Brennan at home with Andy at night, the better to understand how and why she started warming up to him. And of course, the next time I’m playing with a baby I really won’t be able to stop myself from wiggling my fingers at then and cooing "Phalanges! Phalanges!" (Anyone else thought of Friends‘ Phoebe stopping Rachel’s plane by saying something was wrong with the phalanges?)
Booth’s natural fatherhood instincts and experience with his own sonshone through as he not only cuddled and played with Andy, but alsoexpertly changed his diapers. And although Booth enjoyed havingthe baby with them while they waited for him to pass the key heswallowed (under Brennan’s watch, of course), the FBI agent was ready tohand him over to social services once they’d gotten the key. But herelented after Brennan’s impassioned plea to hold off until they’dfound a better place for him to go.
On the Cam Watch: We got a little flash of the good doctor’s vanitywhen she announced that screaming, leaking babies weren’t worthdestroying that hot bod of hers. Indeed.
Angela wasn’t even remotely worried about having kids. Her desirefor "a million" might have freaked out Hodgins, but he didn’t lethis worshipful love for her keep him from manipulating her by talkingabout how he’d still love her after she got puffy and wide from havingnumerous children.
All in all, the episode delivered more of the kind of Brennan personalityprogression that we love to see, but I doubt that it’s got her clockticking. That said, the imagery of her, Booth and their "little guy"together toward the end of the episode (especially with David Boreanazlooking particularly like his old Angel character, wearing the blackt-shirt and trench-looking jacket) definitely made me all warm andfuzzy. And don’t get me started on Booth sucking on the pacifier atthe end. Lord.
It will be nice to have Ryan O’Neal back in the mix as his trialstarts next week. How much will the team be divided as they provideforensic evidence for the trial against Brennan’s father? And why wouldAngela seemingly refuse to testify if she didn’t have somethingincriminating to say?

The ending was great between B&B when he’s talking about the future and uses “us” and “we”. Did anyone else catch that? Sure it’s mostly b/c he wants her to build a house w/ a super ‘Media Room’ for him to watch football and go fishing but it was cute nonetheless. Great show!
DAVID BOREANAZ IS ONE HOT LOOKING BABY DADDY!!!
The episode was just far too much of a fluffy Booth & Bones fan fiction. I would rather the story have more depth, than having to watch Brennan act out of character for an hour, it would of been more in keeping with her, if she still didn’t like the baby throughout. And please someone remind Hart Hanson that this is Bones and not Judging Amy, how many fosters kid stories is this now? Too many by far!
loved the look brennan gave andy when he tried to tocuh her jacket in the beginning. hodgins is looking mighty fine with that haircut.
Loved this episode. LOVED it.
I don’t have any objective commentary to offer, it just made me feel warm and gooey inside. And sometimes that’s what you need out of a show!
I thought it made perfect sense that Bones warmed up to Andy once she identified with the tot’s life story. I really liked that Booth still plans on having Bones in his life in the future. Even if they are just partners and friends. Cam has really grown on me! I wanted to hate her in the beginning but it seems impossible.
Loved, loved Booth the whole way through, what an awesome man, nothing makes the girls go to jelly like a man handling a baby with such ease. David Boreanaz’ real life experiences of being a father shone through, love you man! And I was so channeling Angel when he was wearing all the black, nobody looks hotter than David wearing black, what a hottie!
David+Booth+Baby = Hot/Adorable/Cute
Good episode but why did Brennan keep giving the baby inappropriate “toys” to play with? She’s a smart woman but her doing this this was just stupid, she should have known better!
It was great to see Bones softer side and to watch her slowly warm up to Andy. I don’t think it was out of character for Bones especially because she oculd identify with him because her Mom was murdered and her Dad was a convict too. Who couldn’t slowly warm up to an adorable baby who’s Mom was just murdered?
Loved the ending with B&B. Hodgins is indeed looking very very good!
it’s not out of character for Bones to identify with a child whose mother was murdered and father was a felon, leaving him/her alone. and she has identified with foster children, and they’ve been on the show several times, because foster children is an issue she cares about. it’d be like asking why Booth discusses sports or why they’ve featured military issues more than once. it’s a forensic show about the two of them, and what makes them tick.
my two favorite moments were when Bones realized the baby was in exactly the same situation as she’d been, and then when Booth used us/we to describe hanging out in her extra house, visiting kids. it implies that his mind has subconsciously gone somewhere where his logical part of his mind won’t. AND how deep their bond really is. I love this show!
Booth’s little “Our little guy” slip up and his “that’s right people, I am a constant suprise” gaw, he was just soo freaking cute. And did I mention how sexy I found him holding and caring for that baby? he changed that diaper like a pro!
“This plane doesn’t even have any phalanges!”
Hehehe, what about Phoebe and the “my name’s Roberta Phalangies”
That car chase was brilliant! Loved how hot Booth chased them down, he really meant the business! And the scene were he made Brennan promise to leave if she heard gunshots, he was just so protective and caring, that is sooo very attractive in a man. David did those scenes with so much layers and depth!!! woo-hoo
I agree with you, one of the best Bones episodes ever! I thought the character development was spot on. After last week’s out of place Season 2 ep, it was good to get back to their deepening relationship. Loved the adoring looks Booth kept giving her!
The bad guy was Biff from Back to the Future! Hahaha good stuff.
I’ll second; I quite liked this episode as well. Although Brennan did keep giving the kid unusual things to play with, I felt that squared with her discussion of bears and elephants as an unfamiliarity with all things baby. And she has a point. Why DO we make purple elephant toys and put predators on our infants’ clothing? I guess not everyone’s as logical as Bones
Speaking of, I do highly recommend the Tempe Brennan books by Kathy Reichs. They’re miles better than their closest counterpart, the Patricia Cornwell books.
Maybe the cutest Bones episode. Loved how Bones act with the baby. And the ending with the *our little guy* and the looks on their faces.
I loved the quote about “Elephants are not purple…this is wrong”.
However I would rather like Bones to shut Booth with a kiss than that pacifier, but anyways…
Totally loved this chapter, we had a BBB.
I love hulu.com- got to catch last night’s show tonight! I also enjoyed the Zack awkwardness- the oversharing about beets was good fun!
Great episode! Daddybear Booth is just sooo adorable!!! The only beef I had was when Booth introduced her at the start, Brennan was so obnoxious and rude to him. Booth has done that millions of times before and she never objected, where I come from, including some, is called good manners, maybe she should get some herself.

You are right about Brennan being rude, although she has corrected Booth before, usually in season 1, when she was such a cold fish! Giving Andy dangerous things to play with was very stupid! It has no relation to whether a person has experience or not with kids, everyone, people who are not even smart as Brennan, know this, it is just plain common sense!
So the woman can talk freely about sex but gets uncomfortable when talking about money?
As for Bones giving the baby the pendant from the necklace – maybe she thought it was too big for him to swallow? The “phalanges” bit was cute but her looking around to see if anyone saw her give him a raspberry was cuter, imo.
I’m not joining the Cam love. Didn’t like her at the beginning – not liking her much more now. Her reasons for not having kids is far more selfish than Bones’. But her reaction to Zack was funny.
The way Booth changed that diaper, what a man, seriously someone marry that man right now or give him the relationship & family that he so desires. I thought it was so cute the way that Booth was the baby daddy expert, which is something that Bones has no clue about and she learned from Booth! nice role reversal.
First of all thank’s for reminding me of my Ann M. Martin books. I had the whole Babysitter’s Club collection to book 100. Okay enough of my flashback.
Great episode. Yes Bones is THAT out of it. Remember this is about her understanding the world outside of science and concrete facts. Serious as a gas attack is still funny. David B. is just so hot now, I didn’t even notice the Angel likeness he had at the end. Phalanges wins as the quote this week. How about Bones ruffing up Biff at the end. I’m excited to see what happens next week with her dad. I’m surprised that the Jeffersonian will be allowed to work on it with Bones’ relationship to the suspect.

Hey that’s not fair!
