The 'Earth' trailer makes you feel [pick adjective(s)]

I can’t say the trailer for Earth, the first feature release from the Disneynature imprint, hypnotized me in quite the same way as that plastic bag did Wes Bentley’s character in a certain Oscar-winning film, but I will say it’s a rousing reminder that there’s so much beauty in the world. (Get the high-def version here.) Seriously, that polar bear making a snow angel, and the baby bird leaping out of his nest, and that herd of antelope plunging into a river… I’m not the only one who’s feeling all tingly and exhilarated, right?

p.s. Also, let’s be honest: Any documentary featuring a shark and/or killer whale leaping out of the water to capture its prey is totally gonna rule.

p.p.s. Don’t you love the way Patrick Stewart pronounces "year" as "yea’h," all classy-like?

the movie has been out in europe for a while and it is in fact wonderful!!!!
really touching, sometimes sad, sometimes funny. makes you really care about climate changes even more..!

Isn’t all or most of that footage from the “Planet Earth” series?

  • Sam

    @BrandonK
I was thinking the exact same thing.

The movie looks okay – but trimming down all eleven hours of Planet Earth into a ninety minute movie is like writing cliff notes for The Bible. It simply won’t do it justice. Plus, however cool Patrick Stewart is (and he totally is, don’t get me wrong), he can’t hold a flame to Attenborough.

  • Catzak

That was my thought, BrandonK, it looked very Planet Earthy.

  • Vicky

It looks like Planet Earth and the movie, The Lion King, had a love child.

  • fredric

Brandon K is right. It’s all Planet Earth footage, which was originally shot by the BBC.

  • Andrea

To everyone who’s been saying that it looks like Planet Earth…it IS Planet Earth. I have the DVD set at home and every single scene from this preview was lifted directly from the BBC series. The Disneynature people even credit the BBC at the very beginning of the preview!

Think I’ll go for the Planet Earth Blu-Ray in all it’s hi-def glory and full 11 hours.

  • LisaMama

Yep, it’s Planet Earth. I see this as a chance to 1) see it on a huge movie screen and 2) get people to see it that wouldn’t sit through a long documentary series. I think anyone that watches this can be forever changed in the way he/she thinks about our planet and protecting its natural beauty.

Planet EArth was amazing. Can’t Disney do anything original.

  • CMU

Yes, it’s Planet Earth… they credit BBC at the beginning. This is great because it will offer a more accessible version to everyone who might not want to watch the whole series. I love the duckie. :)

  • Leela

I want to see it now. I could just watch Planet Earth…but, come on, the background music is Sigur Ros!

  • Jennifer

I love it! Oh my gosh, that is just beautiful and really moving. I can’t imagine what the film will be like!
    And Patrick Stewart? *sigh*. Love.

  • Annie

I know that the second song in this is Sigur Ros but how do I find the first song? It was an instrumental.

  • Bo

Is that really Patrick Stewart? It sounds like James Earl Jones to me. You know – Mufasa, Vadar. I dunno.

Sigur Ros? wow, I’ve been searching for that song for months!
