Update: Sorry, guys! We went 0 for 9, and clearly (as some of you pointed out)the April Fools’ joke was on us. As penance, I will watch Ramiele’sperformance three extra times tomorrow morning!

To be honest, I think the one I am most excited about is Jason Castro singing I Will Always Love You. He is different enough from Dolly and Whitney that it might actually be a good performance.
If anyone had to sing, I Will Always Love You, it would be Castro. 9 to 5 and RM… my ears are begging for leniency.
Looking forward to tonight! (Also looking forward to seeing how good your source is) I can’t help but giggle thinking of Ramiele singing 9 to 5. I hope Jason C knows he’s got to sing the heck out of that song so he doesn’t alienate a lot of people.

Seriously, who couldn’t peg that Ramiele would do 9 to 5? Ugh..I shudder at the though. Jason can probably pull his song off, but it will be in that dopey way he sings just about everything. The rest of them I’m interested in seeing. Except for Kristy Lee, of course. Blech.

I CRINGED when I saw this list – Michael Johns singing a karaoke version of “Islands in the Stream”? Ramiele chirping along on “9 to 5″? Jason Castro whispering “I Will Always Love You”? YUCK. Boring, painful, and lame. However, Saint Sunshine should do just fine on “Coat”, and I can hear Carly screeching “Jolene” already. Reserving judgment on the others, but definitely going to need a couple of bottles of wine to go with all the cheese that will be warbling out of my TV tonight.
I was worried that David Cook would bring out “Jolene,” and sing it the way Jack White did, of course.
Ugh, please say this is April Fool’s. I can’t believe anyone would willingly pick Islands in the Stream, much less MJ. And I loves some 9 to 5, but not by that 13 year old in sheep’s clothing! I am intrigued by Jason Castro doing I Will Always Love you though…could be interesting.
Is there going to be an “Idols sing whatever song they want to” night? I’m impressed that a lot of the Idols can transcend genres, but most of these folks already know what they want to do and know what music they can best make. Why not let them do a week where they choose songs from any pop genre?
I’m glad the wife’s got me hitting up the grocery store tonight. Tonight’s episode strikes me as best watched as a “tivo highlight” recap show.

Unless this is an April Fools joke, Jason Castro is most likely going to pull a “Vince Gill” with the song being that both have high voices and Gill is the only man who could really pull that song off well. Ramiele is singing 9 to 5? Well, her time is offically up.
Interesting! We all know Ramiele would pick one of Dolly’s 2 Pop #1’s (and she did)… but Michael Johns and Islands in the Stream? I get it — the Bee Gees are Australian, this was probably a hit down under — but come on man! Even a cursory listen to The Essential Dolly Parton would give him a half-dozen better country rock songs with less melodies: “the Seeker”, “In The Light Of A Clear Blue Morning”, and “Why’d You Come In HEre Lookin’ Like That”, to name but 3. Islands has that annoying 5 notes repeated ad nauseum: “la la LA la la”
Wow, the Idolatry gang rags on Ramiele for doing tired, overdone songs every week and here she is singing one more tired, overdone song. Love it.
I was hoping that Carly would take “Jolene,” I think she can nail that one. Ramiele singing “9 to 5″ will only be okay with me if she does it in a yellow blazer with giant shoulder pads and a ruffle-front shirt. Which, given her apparent fashion sense, may not be an unrealistic expectation.

I say Jason will either have the performance of the night or he will crash and burn and risk being voted off the island tomorrow. Can’t wait to see what happens. Also, Michael Johns…why? Seriously. Can’t wait to hear DCook sing that song.
MICHAEL SLEZAK – OFF TOPIC – Would you please mention online the passing of Elliott Yamin’s mother? Just read it on the Idol website. She seemed like such a sweet lady and it was obvious how close they were. Elliot is my favorite from all the AI seasons and I feel so bad for him right now.

Not only is ramiele doing a tired, overworked DP song, she is doing the song Chikezie said he was going to do this week! The girls does not have an original thought in her head!
Please MICHAEL SLEZAK – can you ask your little birdie what DOLLY herself is singing? It may be the title track “Backwoods Barbie” which is great, but I sure hope it’s “Jesus & Gravity” — which IMO may be one of her best songs in years. Everyone: get out there and buy the new CD… Viva Dolly!
All I can say is, if Michael Johns insists on singing the worst song in the Dolly canon, can he at least please do it shirtless?

I read this yesterday too. I can’t believe David A would do Travelin Thru. It’s kind of religious and meant for someone who has done some hard livin’. And if it is true, Michael Johns’s bump from last week is about to be royally flattened unless his version is, you know, unrecognizable. . . And it won’t be because he’s a cover King. But you know I love you–David C’s song–is a good one. But OH how I can’t believe Travelin Thru for David A. What’s he singing next week? Cats in the Cradle?
