After reading over the Oscar nominations Tuesday, I think I found a glaring mistake. Christian Bale is not mentioned amongst the nominees. Read the full post.

George Clooney, ever since he was on ER. No, not that one. The other one. You know, the one no one watched.

A few weeks ago I sat down and watched Empire of the Sun. That movie was amazing, and Bale was the heart of it. The man is an amazing actor, but I have to say, if he didn’t get nominated then, I don’t know if he ever will. Because sometimes Hollywood looks at certain actors that don’t try to be part of “their crowd” and that they consistently turn in great work, and they just ignore them.
I’m showing my age here, but I was in high school when American Gigolo came out, and I’ve had a crush on Richard Gere ever since. Something about his intensity and his walk – just gets me every time. And he just gets better with age!
Dean Cain, forever.
It took me a long time to forgive Bale for the hateful, misogynistic trash that is “American Psycho” (and I wouldn’t want to meet anyone who actually liked that horrible movie). It wasn’t until “Batman Begins” that he redeemed himself in my eyes.
My Christian crush started in elementary school when he was in Empire of the Sun. For all who haven’t seen it – netflix it now. He was only about 13, but heck I was 10.
Pierce Brosnan….from Remington Steele until today, my love has not faded!
Honey, I have an autographed double-sided “A” Newsies poster autographed by the Bale. In the garage. Want to bid for it? I got it for donating to his Save the Gorillas thingy. As an old friend of his once told me, never call him Chris. Though this may have changed in the interim. That said, I did not have a crush on him, I wanted to be him — Empire Of the Sun was THE formative movie of my childhood, and Spielberg’s first impressive WWII movie. Crushes? I guess Corin Nemec — I always watched Parker Lewis, and my heart was broken three ways from Thursday by “I Know My First Name Is Steven”. Wonder what he’s up to now. OH OH wait I remember: Wil Wheaton. Ever since Stand By Me. Anybody remember Toy Soldiers? HAH! yeah, i had much more interesting real-life crushes.
I adore Christian Bale since Swing Kids, Ewan McGregor since Trainspotting, and Ethan Hawke since Dead Poets Society. Still going strong!
I’ve had a thing for George Clooney since he was on Facts of Life. I’m new by most respects to Christian Bale, but both are in my top 5. A lifetime crush (37 yrs, Jill, I think I have you beat), tho now it’s a sweet fondness, is Donny Osmond.
Christian is totally aweseome, he’s been a favorite of mine since Empire of the Sun, but I have to disagree with the author in that Velvet Goldmine is an AMAZING movie and he is amazing in it, as is everyone else.
Anyone remember Christian Bale in Swing Kids? Yeah, even loved him then. He has been my longest lasting celeb crush, since Newsies as well.
I started digging on Christian Bale in Little Women and I LOVED him in American Psycho (Brian, you think the movie is misogynistic? Try the book. It was the hardest book to get through for me ever! And I loved the movie and don’t care to meet you either) and well, pretty much everything else he’s done. Crushes I developed in HS were David Duchovny and Bono and I still have these crushes to this day. Both are on my 10 list (like in Friends)…along with The Rock, Antonio Banderas (Desperado anyone?), John Krasinski, Rob Zombie (I like them a little dangerous)…and well, I could go on for days. I also developed a strange crush as a child on Freddy Kruger so I guess it’s appropriate I write for a horror site…
I’ve had two men on my fake husband list since middle school… Christian Bale (goes without saying) and Gary Oldman. My love for the two of them has never faded, and I dare say never will!
I certainly agree with you about Christian Bale. However my never ending crush remains on Ralph Fiennes – 14 years and counting! Ralph = yummy!
