i found this blog that has a lot of Katy Perry stuff on it. Its called Markusisthedrug.com oh hey! love love love Katy P! thinking about being her full time stalker.
It’s not insulting, the word ‘gay.’
I mean, let’s be honest: it never used to mean homosexuality, it used to mean happy.
so now it’s been appropraited into another meaning… why can’t it be used in yet another context, then?
Come on, get over yourselves, people. Hilarious song!!!
So who or should I say what management team/record company would let someone release this as their debut song? Do they not listen to REAL music anymore.. STUPID people they must be.. Katy..dear..save yourself and get a new management team..
Anne Marie, what kind of ‘real’ music do you listen to? Just curious.
cool song
This song is proof that the contemporary college education is middle school with beer.
Way to fail, generation of losers.
people. come on. i highly doubt it was meant to be anti-gay. its just a phrase teenagers say. and im pretty sure it was used simply to insult whatever ex she wrote it about. shes not singing “hey yall lets go burn a fag” shes simply saying an insult that hurts the most for many guys because it attacks their sexuality. i mean seriously people. its a song about an ex boyfriend. its honestly really stupid to sit there and say shes anti-gay simply because she called her ex gay. there are tons of girls out there who, after a break-up, call their ex gay. their not homophobic, just angry. take the song for what it is. nothing deep and poetic and life changing, but a fun little pop song about an ex boyfriend. get over yourselves people. now a days everyone has to make a big political deal over everything. people are ridiculous.
if you dont like the song thats fine no one’s forcing you to, but dont come up with reasons why its socially unacceptable. just say you dont like it and move on.
rob…
I don’t understand your reference to Carrie Underwood. I don’t think they sound anything alike.
wow – the future of music… ffs. Jaunty little ditty my arse.. sometimes it’s better to just keep your mouth shut.
the song is funny. the dude that said the song is anti gay is an idiot because it is the opposite. the song infers that gay stereotypes are not limited to gays but also straight men. lm a huge fan of the artist and know several of her other songs which are nothing like this one but equally ingenious.

Eh. I can take a joke like the next dude, but, not crazy about the lyrics. I think the beat is catchy + I do like her voice, actually, but I’m not now + never have been a fan of using “gay” as a handy insult for a guy’s masculinity. Newsflash: there are gay men who aren’t into any of the stuff mentioned in her song. And before you bash me over the head w/ your anti-PC movement, know that I’m not uptight, but have a problem w/ people equating “gay” to something negative (or laughable) for good reason.
actually she is saying that she dated someone who was too full of himself and she couldnt stand it hence “you’re so gay and you dont even like boys” i think the song is hysterical and awesome. it’s already on my playlist.
P.S. the music video is equally funny http://youtube.com/watch?v=zluCpm93vfg
This song was for her boyfriend. This is just directed to her boyfriend, no one else. She thought HE was too full of himself and decided to tell him to piss off my telling him he was gay. She isn’t anti gay and its not a ‘phrase’ teens use. I mean it is, but she’s like…21?
