You were my favorite on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. You made your mark by being more clownish than your cohosts, but your secret weapon was knowing exactly when to wield your quick wit, and when to put it away and utilize your sincerity. When you became Bravo’s breakout star and made the talk-show rounds discussing your life story and promoting your sweet children’s book, I thought to myself, "I can’t get enough."
Turns out I can. After the insipid-looking Crowned (I could only tolerate a few dreadful minutes) and How to Look Good Naked (premiering Friday at 9 p.m. on Lifetime) have had their way with you, please choose your next project carefully. And a word of caution: Beauty pageants are lame, so please stop traipsing your talents over to the Miss Universe universe and renting yourself out to Donald Trump. (Why do I have the sneaking suspicion your career slump is his fault?)
Finally, do scroll down and read all the "P.S." comments from the PopWatch community. I’m sure these fine folks will have scads of good suggestions — none of them involving Celebrity Apprentice.

I had no idea he was involvd with Crowned. That show looks absolutely hideous! How To Look Good Naked seems like it has a sweet center to it. I might give it a shot when it comes on. I think Carson seems like a sweet, well-meaning guy and I hope he helps out a lot of women. Body dysmorphia is a pretty prevalent condiion among women!
I’m with you–Crowned was soo horrible I could only watch a few minutes (this coming from a girl who watches ANTM like religion so, you know, my taste level is already virtually non-existent.)
I think he should get a What Not to Wear type gig. Maybe the naked show will be it. I might give it a try. I just hate to have to tell anyone I watch Lifetime other than those times when they rerun that movie where Tori Spelling gets killed by the girl from ER.
I am really thinking that striking out on his own is a bad idea here. Carson was the standout on Queer Eye, but it worked because he had the other guys to play off and balance him out. Perhaps he’d be better as a member of a judging panel, or a reality show mentor (with co-host). Who Wants to Be A Fabulous Gay Man, perhaps? I see him and Ian McKellen training the recently outed in the ways of personal elegance and snippy asides, with the winner getting a trophy boyfriend and front-row tickets to the Tonys.
I’m almost embarrassed to admit this, but Crowned is HILARIOUS! Unintentionally so, obviously, but very funny. The judges, not so much. The show, though, provides more fodder for Mandi’s Inappropriate Crushes in the person of “Cabana Boy John.” Who bears gifts! That women like!
Loves me some Carson but that ensemble has got to go.
I love the idea of Carson prepping boy toys for a dream date at the Tony awards – why can’t he be a life coach in Oprah’s stable of experts? I would also rather see him as the counterpoint judge to Miss J when Tyra gets around to doing ANTM wannabe guy season.
Oh my, Crowned was a bit of a mistake for him. Or for anyone really. How to look good naked does look like a good show though.
I LOVED How to Look Good Naked. I thought it would be cheesy and maudlin but I really enjoyed it. The time flew by. I’m looking forward to next week’s episode. Carson is great. I haven’t seen Crowned, nor do I have any intention to. But, I will be watching How to Look Good Naked.
