Bioshock (pictured). Call of Duty 4. Super Mario Galaxy. Mass Effect. These are a handful of the videogames that have, quite deservedly, appeared on more than a few lists of the year’s best games. Chances are, they’ll probably end up on EW.com’s 10 Best Games of 2007, running next Monday. (For the record, I’m pushing for The Orange Box. And Ace Combat 6. And TLoZ: The Phantom Hourglass.)
Of course, we’d love to hear what games you thought represented the best of 2007 (and why) — especially those titles you feel may have been criminally overlooked in the crush of high-profile fourth-quarter releases. Games like Undertow (on XBLA). Or Everyday Shooter (on PSN). Or any number of RPGs (I thought Blue Dragon was pretty good.) So have at it.

I’ve gotta put in a word for Super Mario Galaxy (since it’s the only one of the major contenders I’ve played).
It took one of the most recognizable and well-known franchises and came up with a completely innovative concept. The gameplay and level design is incredible and it’s probably my favorite game I’ve played all year.
Big Brain Academy series for Wii and DS… nerdy, I know but to make an educational game that is actually a hit at parties is impressive. It’s a good alternative from violent FPS. Geek stuff is cool? What?!
You can tell there is no love for any PS3 games from the industry who do these end of the year lists. Games like Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, and Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune are throughly overlooked. Even the great God Of War 2 for the Playstation is even overlooked.

Not having a current system (that’ll change soon) prevents me from playing most new games. But I did pick up Bioshock for my PC and it’s one of the best I’ve every played.
God of War 2 was great, was that released this year?
I loved “Orange Box”, at least the Portal game (and end song!) To El Franco: Perhaps they discounted 3 hour games that cost $60 and had no replayability? $20 an hour for Heavenly Sword is a bit much for my pocket. Spike TV did their awards about a week and a half ago, did anyone watch those awards other than me? Halo 3 won game of the year.
If I played through a lot more videogames this year, then I probably could answer this with more valid choices. Since I lack a Wii, I never played through the latest iterations of Metroid and Mario, even though many publications gave high marks to both. Same with Mass Effect, Orange Box and Bioshock, which I still have yet to play (even though I have an Xbox 360). As for the Spike TV Awards, I already chose to ignore it, but seeing the list online just made me cringe. Even though I enjoyed Halo 3, it definitely shouldn’t deserve the game of the year (especially since it didn’t add too much new to the core game anyway).
Not a role playing game and a game that came out this year-Burnout Domination. I am sooo Totally hooked on that series of games
I forget if it came out this year, but I love my WII and ALL its games. The beauty of the WII is that it gets non-gamers (like myself) excited about games.
Yeah, i can’t see Halo 3 being number 1, but it’s definitely top five. I mean, did any other video game make it into EW’s entertainer of the year tournament?
Obvious favorites are Call of Duty 4, Bioshock, and Rock Band – which is about the most fun I’ve ever had playing a game. Although, you can’t beat how awesome a game like Undertow is for just $10 on Xbox Live Arcade – especially if you’re looking for a quick multiplayer match. Switchball and Pac Man Championship are also great.
Undertow is, by far, the best game ever on XBLA. The multiplayer is unbelievable for a $10 game.
I’m going to go with Rock Band and Super Mario Galaxy as the top two games of the year. All games are innovative and HIGHLY enjoyable. I do not profess to be a video game expert, but these three games, in their creativity, graphics, and playability, appeal to all user, skill, and age levels. Rock Band is the reason that my DVR is getting a work-out these days. I’m so addicted to Rock Band, that I play it instead of watching my favorite TV shows.
Cool graphics, extremely fun multiplayer, endless fun, all for $10! No other XBLA title even comes close to Undertow. If you haven’t bought it yet then you are missing out!
