Happy Birthday, Jon Secada!

He’s currently a visiting professor at Miami Dade College’s Kendall campus, but he’ll always be the singer of 1992′s "Just Another Day." Watch the video below… and enjoy trying to harmonize on the chorus.

A few years back when my mother and I went to New York, we went to see a the Broadway revival of Grease.
Jon Secada was Danny Zuko. Only with a Latino flair.

Sally, he is married. I know this because when I was at the University of Miami, I was on the yearbook staff (the Ibis, get it?). One day, someone named Maritere Vilar called to say she had missed her senior portrait appointment because she was stuck in an airport in South America, where she had been working on a video shoot (or something like that) with Jon Secada. She wanted to submit her own photo. A week later, we got a personal letter from Mr. Secada (with enclosed autographed photo!), explaining the situation and pleading Ms. Vilar’s case. I believe we did let her submit a photo, and I didn’t think about her again until a year an a half later, when I read they had gotten married. Sorry, Sally.

This is the type of the song that makes me so happy when they’re playing it at the drug store or something.

    I still love this song.
But I feel old. I was fifteen when it was a hit.

Sally you need to get your mind out of the gutter. On a different note: Secada has a booming voice. It is nice to know he is educated and doing something more with his life.
