The song “Le Disko” by Shiny Toy Guns is really fun. I heard it on both SYTYCD and Real World: Sydney last week, and had to download it. It’s a little throwaway pop song that’s fun for the end of the summer. Speaking of Sydney, why is there no TV Watch for it this season? Or at least some L Word-style PopWatch entries once in a while? I so enjoy EW’s MTV commentary.

Great spot to check out for fans of Broadway musicals. It has clips back to the 1950s.
    2)Re-runs of Brothers & Sisters

addictinggames.com-what better place to spend your time while you should be working?

    1) The new season of the Hills. The drama! The clothes! The feeling of absolute hatred for most of the people on this show!
    2) The excitement building up for High School Musical 2.

The new season of Weeds started Aug. 13. One of the better, unsung comedy ensembles on TV led by the terrific Mary Louise Parker.

  • Todd

“Talk to Me,” especially the segment about Martin Luther King Jr. It was honestly a flawless 15 minute bit of film. Don Cheadle does such an amazing job, and Chiwetel Ejiofor and Taraji P. Henson are fantastic in their secondary roles. I don’t understand why this film isn’t getting more publicity because compared with crap like “Skinwalkers,” this flick is fantastic.

The brotherhood 2.0 website, hilarious especially Hank’s recent Harry Potter song.
    Also, Becoming Jane, just charming

    1) The start of the EPL (English Premiere League) season
    2) Who Knew? – P!nk. Surprisingly moving, supremely catchy for a ballad.
    3) Word that My So Called Life is FINALLY getting a (mainstream, affordable) DVD release.

I agree, Jasper Fforde’s newest Thursday Next novel.

  • AA

I’m with those who nominate the new Thursday Next novel, First Among Sequels. Can’t wait for Second Among Sequels.

VH1’s Mission: Man Band. I cannot visualize the universe in which this musical venture will succeed. But watching these four guys fight alcoholism, leukemia, lethargy and arrogance all for a second chance at success makes a relatable, funny, surprisingly touching show.

  • Katy

The Distant Future EP by Flight of the Conchords. This cheers me up whenever I listen to it. Please renew the show, HBO!

  • Todd

The Panda Bear cd- Person Pitch. It’s like a mixture of the Beach Boys and Kid A era Radiohead, without the mopiness.
The State is coming to DVD! Thousands of geeks that have been waiting ten years for this can finally rest easy.

  • Jon

    Must List:
    1. LCD Soundsystem, “The Sound Of Silver”… brilliant disc
    2. Top Chef
    3. The Closer

  • Paige Schector

Well, the return to David Duchovny to television of course! It’s the perfect role for him too — talented but off-kilter slightly smarmy writer.

  • Dominique L.

I cannot recommend highly enough Kevin Smith’s podcast with Scott Mosier (SModcast). It is laugh out loud hilarious and incredibly NSFW.
Also, the fantastic first seaon of “Dexter” will be released on DVD next Tuesday.
And David Lynch’s completely, wonderfulyl insane “Inland Empire” is out on DVD today!
P.S. Don’t forget the theatrical release of the awesome looking “Superbad” this Friday!!!

The thought of High School Musical 2 brings much more joy than it should to this twenty-something. I can’t be the only one.

I know Must List doesn’t usually just do a song (rather than a whole album), but here are a couple of interesting songs that have piqued my interest:
JoJo – “Beautiful Girls” – JoJo’s response to Sean Kingston arguably makes better use of the song – it fits better as a dis than a woe-is-me romantic theme.
James Blunt – 1973 – Who cares if he wasn’t born yet? Did that stop Bryan Adams from Summer of 69? I think not. A good end of summer tune, something to erase the memory that “You’re Beautiful” ever existed. Almost.

counting down the days (hours!) to High School Musical!!!
Californication…David Duchovny is back and fantastic!

Friday Night Lights – the best show on network tv even if the Emmy’s don’t say so.

  • Aaron

Jacob Zachar on “Greek”: the most identifiable a TV character has been for me since “Freaks and Geeks” was on.

  • carly f.

    1. “the office”- no explanation necessary
    2. givememyremote.com
    3. the shopaholic series- by sophie kinsella

Matt Nathanson’s new album “Some Mad Hope”
Been waiting for it for awhile and am so glad it’s here!

  • kats

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, “This Is Somewhere”. Edgy, bluesy, rock mixed with intimate ballads. An absolute must listen.
