Help with The Must List…or a baby pony will be sad!

Categories: Must List

Mustpony_lFor two weeks running, we’ve asked you — the extremely fetching (and, it goes without saying, whip smart) readers of PopWatch — to help us build the Must List, the regular roundup of pop-culture delights that runs each week in the pages of Entertainment Weekly. In other words, you — yes, YOU! — are now responsible for choosing one out of every 10 TV shows/albums/books/movies/video games/websites that EW labels as ML-worthy.

If that’s not pressure enough, PopWatchers, now the stakes have been raised. If the number of comments for this week’s Must List item fails to exceed last week’s current total of 373, then an adorable baby pony (pictured at left) will be very, very sad. Possibly inconsolable. For the rest of the week. You don’t want that on your conscience, do you?

Okay then, here’s what you must do. Give us your Must List suggestions in the comments section below, and be sure to adhere to the following rules:

(1) Please limit yourself to no more than three suggestions (and if you wanna explain your suggestions, go right ahead), and

(2) Please include your email (we won’t publish it and we won’t share it — we just need it to contact you if your submission is chosen).

We’ll accept submissions up until noon on Thursday, July 12. So have at it — and then look for your name in our newest issue. Hey, it could totally happen. And at worst, you’ll have kept an adorable pony in good spirits.

“Flight Of The Conchords” on HBO, I never knew droll could be so adorable.

    1. SoapNet reruns of The OC. Relive the early days of season 1, the not quite as stellar days of season 2 and countdown the days until Marissa dies in season 3. Then, bask in the glory of the awesomeness of Taylor and Kaitlin in season 4.
    2. Fergie’s video for “Big Girls Don’t Cry.” No, it’s not a song of summer (could that possibly belong to her “Glamourous”?), but it features Milo Ventimiglia in a sleeveless shirt and non-emo haircut. Now we know what became of Jess after he left Stars Hollow.
    3. Mindy Kahling’s Blog – Things That I’ve Bought That I Love. http://www.mindyephron.blogspot.com. Even for free, I love this blog.
    4. Vanilla Coke Zero. Not a pop culture must, but awesome for the summertime. Mix it with rum, add some ice and enjoy on a patio.
    5. World Series of Pop Culture on Vh1.
    6. The return of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.
    7. Reruns of 30 Rock on NBC. If you missed it the first time, it’s new to you (remember when NBC had good shows? Tina Fey does).

    1. Imedla Staunton in “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”
    2. “Girlfriend [Remix]” Avril Lavigne and Lil’ Mama
    3. Book: How to Lose Friends and Alienate People

The music video for “Throw it On Me” by Timbaland featuring the Hives. How Sin City was meant to be: 2 minutes and 11 seconds long.

  • Chris Richards

    1. Weird Al Yankovic, who is touring with an incredible set for his latest album, Straight Oughta Lynwood, who remains as funny and as relevant today as he was more than a decade ago when I first started listening to him.
    2. Eternal Darkness Santiy’s Requim. A game from a few years back that I just discovered. As your character goes slowly insane in the game, it plays with your mind just as much as you play with it. From turning off the TV to sudden screams of agony, this game could challange the Exorcist for making your hair stand up in the dark.
    3. Dead Like Me – Why this show was canceled, I will never understand. Funny, dark, and always delving into its complex and often wonderfully eclectic characters, this gem is a must-have on DVD.

My must of this week is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Not only was Imedla Staunton perfect as Dolores Umbridge, David Yates also provided us with a darker and better Potter. Kudos to his directing! The trio were back better than ever! I can’t wait for Yates’ Half Blood Prince. We will not be dissapointed!

Sara Bareilles’ new cd “Little Voice” This singer/songwriter is the next big thing

    1) show: flight of the conchords. just when i think this show couldn’t get any better, bret writes a 2-hour long song about things he says he’ll do for his girlfriend but won’t actually do.
2)song: “the night starts here” by stars is so amazing that all i can say is to download it. now.
3)music video: feist’s “1234″ is almost as cute as feist herself.

    Goodreads.com
I love the idea of posting what I have read, am reading, and am going to read…and reviewing my reads…and seeing what others are reading. I have to limit myself so I don’t spend every waking hour on it. And I can’t wait to check it out the day after HP 7 comes out.

  • Stephen

“Revolutionary Road,” by Richard Yates. I picked it up after hearing it would become a movie, (Starring Kate Winslet, nonetheles), and it makes you rethink the definition of ‘happy.’

  • Henning

    1) Simpsons avatars on “The Simpsons Movie” website (www.simpsonsmovie.com). For eighteen years I’ve wondered what my yellow doppelganger might look like – now I can see him in all his bug-eyed, four-fingered glory.
    2) The Dangerous Book for Boys – all the really important stuff they left out of my school lectures.

  • Max

    1) Peter O’Toole as Anton Ego in Ratatouille
    2) Sound of Silver — LCD Soundsystem
    3) 30 Rock
