I’m worried that the forthcoming Anna Nicole Smith biopic, whose backers announced today the casting of Dancing With the Stars alumna and noted hockey expert Willa Ford (pictured) in the title role, might never see the inside of a multiplex. Producer Jack Nasser has said that the project might become a TV movie instead of a theatrical feature, and given the TV movie/straight-to-video oeuvre of director Keoni Waxman, that wouldn’t be out of line. Which would be a tragedy for Ford, who deserves her shot at joining Helen Mirren and Reese Witherspoon in the pantheon of Oscar-winning biopic actresses.
The solution, of course, is to surround her with a sterling supporting cast. Here’s where you come in, PopWatchers, with your casting suggestions. I’ll start you off: As newly-confirmed babydaddy Larry Birkhead, why not real-life Ford ex Nick Carter? Hurry and help cast this movie, PopWatchers; it starts shooting next week.

Sorry, but Larry Birkhead MUST be played by Kato Kaelin.
>Which would be a tragedy for Ford, who deserves her shot at joining Helen Mirren and Reese Witherspoon in the pantheon of Oscar-winning biopic actresses.<
You must be kidding, right? Right?
Howard K. Stern should be played by his own self. Not because he’d be any good, but because he’s in desparate need of a paying gig.
Chadd – I thought the SAME THING! Kato – definitely…
Or, if he’s unavailable, maybe Chad Lowe for Birkhead, Jeanne Tripplehorn, for Opri, Rosanne Barr for Virgie, Kirk Douglas for the octagenarian husband, that enormous guy from Green Mile as the bodyguard, and Adrian Brody for Stern. I don’t think Brody’s a good match so much, but he’s on my mind since I watched Hollywoodland this weekend.
Zsa Zsa’s husband will be portrayed by himself.
I was TOTALLY thinking of Roseanne Barr for Vergie Arthur, as well! But who should play Daniel? I suggest Shia LeBeouf, not because he looks anything like him, but he’s about the right age and is actually a decent up-and-coming actor.
Another comment: Is Willa going to play Anna Nicole for the entire film? She’s hardly convincing as someone in her late 30s. Also, not to be mean, but are they going to have her gain an enormous amount of weight? She’d have to be at all convincing.
I’ve always thought Larry Birkhead looked a bit like a blue eyed Jay Mohr- if Mohr was in the habit of foiling his hair. Although Nick Carter is a decent choice too. He’s got the product down.
Rosanne for Virgie is a great call. I’m liking the rest of EM’s casting ideas as well.
If Willa is the quality they’re going for (sorry any fans haven’t seen her in anything that I can recall other than VH1′s Sexiest Wives/Girlfriends/Guitarists/Boy Banders and DWTS) why not Howard Stern for Howard K. Stern? Make him walk on his knees and turn it into a dark comedy a la To Die For. Doing a serious biopic so soon after this ridiculous tabloid coverage just isn’t buyable.
Personally I think Jenny McCarthy was born to play the role of Anna Nicole.
It’s GOT to be Haley Joel Osment as Daniel. Come ON…show their pix side by side and tell me that’s not perfect.
um, no one will see that movie.
Haley Joel Osment as Daniel – perfect!
Kato Kaelin as Birkhead works for me, with Tonya Harding as Smith and Joey Buttafucco as Stern. Smith’s entire life (and death) seemed surreal, shouldn’t the movie be as well?
I’d go with Pam Anderson for ANS, at least they have two big things in common.
UGH!!
The whole idea is as bad as that OJ Simpson TV movie.
Do they have to make a movie out of every tragedy? We know the story already…give it a rest!
My roomate and I cast the movie over a month ago….because we are on the ball like that. Here was what we came up with.
Anna Nicole: Charlize Theron (After Monster…she can pull anything off)
Howard K. Stern: Joaquim Phoenix
Kimmy (former assistant): Rosie O’Donnell
Larry Birkhead: Seann William Scott
Daniel: Chad Michael Murray
J. Howard Marshall: Peter O’Toole or Mr. Burns from the Simpsons
Anna Nicole’s Mother: Roseanne
Baby Dannielynn: Shiloh Jolie Pitt or Suri Cruise
Bobby Trendy: Margaret Cho as a drag king
