The Joy of 'Sax', Part 1

Categories: Today's Funnies

There is a piece of music called "Yakety Sax" — it’s the relentlessly up-tempo saxophone instrumental that you probably know as "that song from The Benny Hill Show." Performed by Boots Randolph, it’s a cheery ditty that transforms even the lamest of chase scenes into comedy gold, as demonstrated below.

We’ll revisit this theme in future posts. We’ll close with this nice example of the so-called Hill Effect.

I was looking for the Mr. Show skit that ended with Yakety Sax, but couldn’t find it. So instead, here’s Camp Monk Academy, featuring the kid who plays Gordon Crisp on Freaks and Geeks!

Yakety Sax was used in the part of “V for Vendetta” when comedy talk show personality Gordon Detrtch (Stephen Fry) had two fake Chancellor Adam Suttlers(John Hurt)fighting each other. That was way, way too funny. When I saw it in a theater, the whole audience was rolling on the floor.
