Trailer Blazer: 'Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End'

At 12:53 a.m. on Tuesday the 20th, with the countdown to Pirates of theCaribbean: At World’s End trailer online premiere counter ticking 10 minutesand 15 seconds to go, I wondered how this was supposed to be March19th… I guess it’s still Monday west of EST? Lame. Where is trailer,Yahoo!? And why is your counter different from Disney’s? Why is itrunning backwards?

PopWatchers, I sat staring at decreasing (then, strangely, increasing) numbers late into the night sothat I could experience a few minutes of halting scenes from the thirdinstallment of the gigantor Disney franchise. A little anti-climactic,but still exciting. The "end of the world" waterfall, arctic waters,Chow Yun-Fat, Keira Knightley looking like a chimney sweep… looks good, but is it just me, or is Jack Sparrow getting a little tired? He’s starting to sound like that priest dude from Pride & Prejudice. I don’tactually remember a lot of what happened in Dead Man’s Chest; I justremember feeling pissed at the cliff-hanger ending/non-ending.

What doyou think, PopWatchers? Judging by the trailer, does this movie looklike a goodie? (I kind of miss the squid face, who’s only in a couple frames of this clip.) Are you guys stillexcited about POTC? Where’s my Larry King blurb?

UPDATE: Yahoo still has the exclusive HD version of the trailer, but Disney has made the standard version available for embedding on anyone’s website, as we’ve done below. (Take that, YouTube buccaneers!)

    Meh…
The previews for the second one looked equally enthralling. So I went and saw it opening weekend – along with the rest of the world, apparently – and, after waiting for the first one to come out on DVD, missing out on its theatrical experience and realizing it wasn’t a bad movie, you’d think I would have been in for a treat. Uh, yeah…and Britney Spears is rational and level headed. I was so mauled mentally by the stupidity of the second POTC that about halfway, I was looking around at the rest of the bored faces of my friends and began banging my head on the back of my seat to pass the time, to the chagrin of the people behind me, who were apparently seeing a different movie than me because they were WAY into it…losers. I was deep in the center of the row and couldn’t nonchalantly get up for snacks. I’m going to see this next one, and I’m sitting at the END of the row. If it’s as retarded as the second one was, I’m going to be prepared.

I absolutely loved the first movie. It was so perfect and stood on its own so well. It didn’t need a sequel or prequel or spin off or any of that nonsense. It was just perfect all on its own. The 2nd movie, however, cannot boast any of that. The way they did it requires the 1st and now 3rd movie to act as crutches for it. I’ll see this last movie because I just have to, but I don’t even own the 2nd movie on DVD yet. So I’ll be there in the theaters to see it, but I’m so jaded from the 2nd movie that it’s going to take something pretty badass to impress me.

That’s a clever bit of viral marketing on Disney’s part to turn the trailer over to the blogging masses.
This will be EVERYWHERE by the end of the day. It’s already on my site right now!

Hahahha Helin, I’m the same way about Dead Man’s Chest,I remember entering the theatre, and being confused for about 2 hours and then it abruptly ended. Ok.
So, um, trailer…what is going on there? I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt, maybe it’s just the trailer, but wha??? As much as I love Jack Sparrow, I think I might acutally wait for this one on DVD,so many better movies to see this summer!

I can only it’s better than the second one, as that was a real disappointment.

Imho, POTC1 was one of the best movies Disney has ever made. Able to enthrall both kids and grown ups, it’s hard to believe Sparrow was played to appropriately by a former “21 Jumpstreet” castmember.
But POTC2 was bad in the same way Matrix 2 was bad. It wasn’t able to capture the flavor of the original. And the attempts to make Orlando Bloom into a hearthrob failed miserably, as he never has ANY chemistry with his female co-stars. Is the guy afraid of good looking women or something?
I’ll see 3, but will wait a week or two after it’s released. If it’s Matrix 3 bad, I may have to give away my dvd copy of POTC1 to protest…

would you believe i actually stopped the tivo last night during dancing with the stars, rewound, and watched the preview? clearly, this preview caught my eye, even during fast forward.

I don’t care. I know Hollywood makes huge movies all the time. But this movie series, like Lord of The Rings has so captured my childhood and giving it back to me… i cannot wait!

it’s up on my myspace page.

I have an irrational love for this movie. I don’t know why. I completely understand all the criticism, and can’t really handle the marketing campaign and ridiculous tie-ins. But I’ll be there, in the movie theatre, even though I just saw POTC 2 and it bit, and I can’t even remember the “plot arc” of the first two movies. I get tingles from the trailer. And c’mon, the music set to the sword fight between Captain Jack and Bill Nighy was pretty cool.
