The good geeks at SciFi2U posted this video of last week’s brainwashing/sleep deprivation scene…. played backwards. In it, a woman’s voice (possibly Ms. Klugh’s? I want her back!) repeats "Only fools are enslaved by time and space."
It’s freaky and awesome, even though I can’t detect a similar voice (though maybe it’s at a much lower volume) from the scene as it played normally.
If the recording is for real, here’s some more Dharma-initiated foodstuff for thought: The Tail Section determined that Aldo, the guard outside the facility, was reading a chapter of Stephen Hawking’s A Brief History of Time that discusses black holes, time, and space. You can see closeups of the pages at TTS. It’s almost like they used that book on purpose or something! Who knew Lost could be tricky?
What does it all mean? Is this just another red herring designed to drive us crazy over the space-time continuum theory, like when Hurley suggested to Sayid that the FM radio transmission was from "another time"? Maybe. I believe the only real conclusion we can derive from this is that Paul is dead.

It will be interesting to see how this ties into the “special electromagnetic properties of the island”, to quote an Orientation video, ties in which the whole time/space slippage. Clearly Desmond turning the key at the end of Season 2 has affected the Island, and its relationship to the “real” world, in a fundamental way.

You know, tomorrow’s episode is going to be a Valentine’s Day clip show! These jerks are screwing with us again. Why can’t we just have new episodes??!!!!

You can totally hear the voice in the original. I recognized the intonations and the “s”s, even though I couldn’t understand what the voices were saying, of course.
The backwards speech all ties in with the concept that time moves differently on the island than the real world, be it before or after the failsafe key was turned. Add this to the “Mittelos” anagram (lost time) and Lindelof and Cuse’s constant teasing that something’s up…some crazy stuff is about to go down.
I was more entertained by that 2 minute backwards clip than by any full episode of Lost this season.
I think those SciFi2U people have discovered the perfect way to make Lost good again.
I would also like to say that it was hilarious when Ellen Degeneres pretty much told Dominic Monaghan that Lost was starting to suck on her show today.

Aldo is one of the actors of ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’, one of the most criminally overlooked comedies of the past few years. He is also a cutie.
The Lost folks have been spotted reading a lot of suggestive books, but they always turn out to be red herrings. Probably because they’re making it up as they go along.
I oculd have sworn I heard that when the tape was played _forwards_ in the original airing. Wierd, huh?
Did you guys notice that the music played backwards sounds like a jet airplane engine?!?!?! FREAKY!!!! And if that’s not the music, just the fact that it sounds like an airplane engine is creepy!
