What is with the cliffhangers — literally — on ABC shows this past week?
First on Grey’s Anatomy, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo, pictured) got pushed over the edge of a dock by the convulsing man she was trying to treat at the scene of the ferry boat accident. And of course, we’re all left wondering if she’s going to drown to death or be saved by McDreamy and his hair.
Then, on Desperate Housewives, Mike and Orson threw fists at each other in a hospital parking garage, and their rumble eventually ended in Orson free falling out of what looked like the fifth level of the building. Cut to the end of the episode.
Finally on a random note, on Heroes (okay, so not an ABC show, but still), Matt was thrust through a window by Jessica — but luckily, we know he survived.
Which show do you think will be next to follow in this pattern? And are there any characters on TV (or even a reality show cast member) you wish would be sent for a flying lesson of their own? I know I’d like to see Cecille on Beauty and The Geek be thrown off the balcony by Jennylee!
You didn’t mention that Bree also had a fall on Sunday’s DH. We know she survived, but it keeps her out of the picture until the season finale.

Haha I was thinking about this too. So many people falling and all of us left hanging. I saw another big fall on Bones a couple of weeks ago. Booth dropped the bad guy off an apartment building. Oh and I think on Supernatural, Dean was shot in the arm and fell off a dock. Hmm defintely lots of falling. Maybe tonight on Gilmore, Lorelai will push Christopher off some high building. Here’s hoping!

what about johnny falling off the cliff in the OC. A literal cliffhanger.
…and you can’t forget the fall on Heroes from LAST week, when Claude decided that Peter needed an object lesson in order to understand that his body remembers how to use the powers he “borrows” when he’s near another hero, and that he can use them at any time. Since Claude knows one of the powers that Peter’s borrowed is flying, the object lesson comes in the form of a shove from the roof of a 30-story building. Hee!
I wouldn’t mind seeing Piz from ‘Veronica Mars’ pushed off the cliff behind the Road Hog.
Now how can you overlook Haywire falling to his death on last week’s Prison Break? And you actually feel for the guy.

and there’s the whole “someone flies” Heroes thing…but that conjures an image more than anything else.
Did anyone see the ducklings lose their patient over the lobby balcony last night on House? She was delusional and threatening to jump and then, keeping up with this apparent trend, fell to the floor below.
