The obligatory Saturday Night Live post from me this week goes out to Amy Poehler and her masterful impersonation of Dakota Fanning and what would happen if she were given a talk show. Pynchon references and physical comedy? It quite simply gets no better. Dear SNL: As I know you’re listening, please do make this weekly. Thank you.
(Oh, and hey — what did we all think of the Lily Allen? She’s not preggers, is she?)
I thought Lily’s dress was rather unflattering, too! I actually turned to my friend and said, “Uh, is she pregnant?”
I loved it! Especially the hilarious tension between Dakota and Abigail Breslin.
Lily sounded great; better than the CD. Her dress wasn’t a great choice but otherwise she looked fabulous.
I don’t know about anyone else but why is it that Dakota plays EVERY child in the movies??? And they are purposely making her dress, look and sound young…. She’s soon to be 13 and she dresses like 7 yr old getting her 1st communion??? What gives?
Great overall episode of SNL, and a really good performance by Lilly Allen, actually made me decide to buy the CD.
the dakota fanning show was one of the highlights of that episode!!! the donatella versace skit was also fun! i really like lily allen, but she moved so awkwardly while performing. and yes, that dress was an unfortunate wardrobe choice. she’s still pretty cool in my book.
Okay, so she’s really not pregnant? If I were her, I would burn that dress.
C’mon! The funniest skit was the 80′s aerobics exercise video (with the soft porn tone. “I see someone has done this before.”
Come on – she had to be at least 6 months pregnant. Even her legs were bloated!?!
Amy Poehler is a genius! I like Dakota Fanning but this is just hilarious! I miss Amy’s skit with “step dad rick” so much that this could be my new fav (current) SNL Skit! Please make it weekly!
This was fantastically funny…really clever idea. However, am I the ONLY one who was TREMENDOUSLY disappointed that there was not a Superfans skit? I mean, DA BEARS WERE IN THE SUPER BOWL! Throw us a bone, SNL!
The Dakota Fanning was great, as was Lily Allen. I’m definitely buying her CD. But it’s true that her dress choice was not the smartest.
THe Fanning skit was pretty fun but I agree with Snarky who posted before me. The 80s workout video was hilllarious!!! IT was so funny watching the ‘intense’workout (weights) the not as intense workout (pencils) and then amy poehler lifting air! so funny!!
Body Fusion was by far the best part – “Wanna meet my friends?” “Donna”. “Michelle”. “Donna”. And then the first Donna goes “WHOO” for no reason in the middle of the steps workout!
The workout video did nothing more than pander to the lowest common denominator, whereas the Dakota Fanning skit was old style SNL (and that’s a compliment rarely given these days).
Chaddogg- You’re not the only one. If they could get Horatio back- they could have gotten George Wendt as well.
