"Axel Foley is one of the great action-comedy characters, a character that Eddie loves. I’m lucky enough to help bring it back," producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura told Variety, explaining his and Eddie Murphy’s decision to make Beverly Hills Cop IV. "This genre is missing from the landscape."

The Beverly Hill’s Cop movies seemed to mirror Eddie’s Career. The first one was really funny, with lots of swearing. It was popcorn fun, like his earlier movies and stint on SNL. Beverly Hills Cop2 was okay, and showed us the last gasps of Eddie’s 80′s career. By the time the forgettable Beverly Hills Cop3 came out, we had all kind of forgotten about him. Now we have Beverly Hills Cop4 coming out, the attempted comeback movie by a star trying hard to comeback. After success with Shrek, we’ve had to endure Pluto Nash, and a brother named Charlie showed us there’s a more talented Murphy out there. Will this next flick rock or sink like a lead zepplin?
I don’t care what anyone says, I’m a huge fan of the Beverly Hills Cop movies, flaws and all. I was ecstatic when I heard about this the other day.
With his “comeback” in Dreamgirls (I have heard verrrrry good things about his performance) relaunching Eddie in a way, BHC4 might not be all that bad.
Why are you dying inside? This could actually turn out good. Yes, it could be horrible, but it is true that there aren’t really many movies out there like that “genre” anymore.
Mandi, if this news makes you die inside, you are in for some hard lumps in life. There are definitely things far more traumatizing happening in the entertainment world right now.
hahahahaha!thats awesome. i completely agree with you!
I’m still waiting for Jaws 5: Jaws in the Hood.
This genre is missing from the cultural landscape for a reason. It should stay missing.
Police Academy 8: Police Academy in Space
Cheech and Chong’s “Still breathin”
Bleh.
Breakin’ 3: Broke
Die Hard 4: Live Free or D…. oh wait, nevermind.
Breakin’ 3:Broke
Absolutely priceless.
People, PEOPLE! Put down your torches! Have we, as a society, learned nothing from “Caddyshack 2″ …or, more importantly, “Ghostbusters 3: Gozer’s Revenge”-??? (THIS TIME …it’s personal!”).
Oh wait …maybe we have. To quote “The Others” on “Lost”: “Light ‘em up!”
The id and I – “Be the blah!”

I think I see a trend here…
Shrek to Pluto Nash.
Dreamgirls to Beverly Hills Cop 4.
I hope he remembers to take his Dramamine.
