Download This: Copeland

Vibraphone. That’s all you need to know. It’s the first thing you hear on Copeland‘s new album Eat, Sleep, Repeat but it won’t be the last. Of course, I’m assuming you’ll be as entranced with the record as I am. (Seriously, I’ve heard it at least 40 times… I think there’s a drug hidden inside because I can’t stop hitting the repeat button.)

If you haven’t heard of Copeland before, here’s a short, sweet, description that will blow your mind. Take equal parts Pablo Honey-era Radiohead ("Control Freak"), the best of lounge-y Rufus Wainwright ("Love Affair"), kick in some 60′s boy-band harmonies, the saddest melodies ever played by strings and piano, and add the occasional angelic vocal addition of Anna Becker, and there you have it! This is what music should sound like.

In my little world, this is by far, the best album of the year. It’s so thoughtfully written that when asked what itsounds like, the only thing that comes out is "brilliant," and it’s theabsolute truth.

What do you think of Copeland? Am I on crack?

They’d be better with a better lead singer.

Copeland is not that bad, but I have heard this music before.

I honestly keep playing this CD over and over and over. Love affair is an incredible track. And to the person who says they should find a better lead singer, I say “Boulderdash”.

I just got the CD. I was fan of the old stuff, and they just topped it with this new CD. The artwork is amazing too. This should make my top 3 records of the year.

Their last album, In Motion, was brilliant, I haven’t had a chance to hear the new one yet. I’ll be picking that up today hopefully.

thank you for bringing attention to a fantastic and underappreciated band… both of their previous LPs were masterful and they have shown incredible growth with each new album.
