So, while out grabbing lunch today, I popped into the Virgin Megastore in Times Square to check out the $10 CD sale. Not much there, some old Dylan and whatnot; I left empty handed. Well, almost. I wandered past the books section, and this — the second row on the left, specifically — caught my eye. Thanks, Virgin, for explaining the otherwise inexplicable rise of She Who Shall Not Be Named.

Who is this woman and why did they give her a talk show? No, i’m being serious I must be the only person on the planet who’s never heard of her until everyone’s been yammering about her new talk show this week. WHO IS SHE???
She has a cooking show on The Food Network. She got popular by making “30-minute meals” meaning she really makes meals in 30 minutes. She’s sloppy and not so thorough sometimes but she gets it done. Then the Food Network starting giving her a few other shows as well; they are all on the Food channel which explains why she may not be that well-known. Her talk show is on CBS (in Florida anyway). I have not watched it yet; I like her cooking but do not like her talking and laughing and smiling and etc…..ALL THE TIME.
Oh yeah, I guess Oprah offered her this talk show and Rachael says “you don’t say NO to the O”.
Thank god I am not the only one who cannot stand Rachel Ray!!!!
Um, if you don’t know her or Paula Deen ,you live in a cave and the world has passed you by.. with no cable., hee hee. Rachel is cool. A good cook for the middle age 25-40 crowd learning to live on their own, wanting to do more than heat up frozen or take out.. or new cooks.
My cookin skillz are the toaster oven or microwave, hence why I have never heard of this woman. 30 minute meals, greatttttttttt
sometimes when there is nothing else on and i am flipping through channels waiting for my afternoon or evening classes, I’ll watch rachel ray’s 30 minute cooking show. she’s funny and i like the sound of her voice. but i dont think I could actually make any of that stuff in 30 minutes.
I keep wondering why people don’t like Rachael Ray and I just don’t get it. She’s fun, she’s entertaining, she makes mistakes, she uses bagged salads and laughs a lot. I’m not sure about why people have to spread their hate to someone who is clearly enjoying their live. Why spread the hate people, let her enjoy her success. If anyone of you haters out there had her success, I’m sure you’d want other people to be happy for you, not hate on you.
I’m in upstate NY and this is Rachael’s neck of the woods. She’s worked at Macy’s (I’m assuming locally, maybe Colonie Center?), at a local gourmet store (Cowan & Lobel in Stuyvesant Plaza–since closed) and then got a spot on local TV news which apparently caught the eye of the Food Network. I’ve met her twice (if you can call it that) at local book signings (she also did/does commercials for Sutton’s, a store she used to work at up near Lake George, as well as a local grocery chain) and she’s pretty much what you see on TV–gregarious, loud, funny. I will say she seems to have ramped it up a notch or two on the new talk show.
That picture is hillarious! I love FoodTV though I tend to avoid Ray…she’s way too chipper for my cold, cynical self.
Haha, that picture’s great. I’m not a particular fan of Rachael Ray, but she doesn’t bother me either. She seems like a nice enough person, so people should stop focusing their ire on her and instead focus it on more “deserving” celebrities (I’m looking at you Ms. Hilton…)
I agree with Dave, the photo was hilarious. I too like Rachael, and don’t understand all the hate, at least she acutally does something, unlike so many other fake celebrities…the Hilton’s and Ritiche come to mind…
I love Rachael Ray, but the photo, and your comment, are hilarious.
Martha Stewart is missing from the picture.
Rachael Ray is the femme-Joker. She is hyper and cute on camera (and I guess at book signings as well)…but she has a mouth like a sailor and a temper of Martha in real life.
I think I could handle her more if she didn’t constantly laugh at her own jokes. Ughhhhhh!
