Last night’s episode of The Simpsons — now in its 23rd decade! — featured the guest vocal talents of none other than Meg and Jack White, a.k.a. the White Stripes…
OR DID IT??
I have now watched this YouTube clip approximately 43 times, and I remain unconvinced that Jack and Meg’s speaking voices are actually theirs. The two run into Bart during a parody of the Michel Gondry-directed video for "Hardest Button to Button" — I could explain why, but it involves Vegas and paddle ball and is really not worth the time — and they have but one true line each. Still, after careful analysis and (since I appear to be linking to a lot of my own work here today) a couple spins of this old NPR interview, I have some serious, serious doubts about the true identity of the actors delivering those lines.
They lied to us about being brother and sister. Who knows what else this band is capable of??

The Simpsons would not do such an extensive sketch if they weren’t actually on the show. and they are the exact type of people to be on the simpsons too.
I thought Meg was a mute.
According to my cable guide, they were also supposed to perform in Bart’s benefit concert but they didn’t do that either.
It’s them. At least Jack. I thought it would have been better if they had kept Meg “mute”. Her voice was way huskier than I expected.
And Milhouse wasn’t in that scene!
who cares?! it was hilarious! as was the entire episode. glad to see the simpsons’ still got it!
I thought last nights episode was really not very funny. I didn’t laugh once. I consider myself pretty “with it” generally but, I can’t help but wonder if I missed something. Hmmmm????
23rd decade? The Simpsons has been on for 230 years?
Matthew- I’d like you to meet someone named hyperbole.
I heard that they recorded that episode right before Jack lost his voice last year… so maybe that has something to do with it.
But, yeah, it didn’t sound right and I can’t believe that they were only in the episode for like two seconds.
I once saw an interview with the cast of the Simpsons and they said when Michael Jackson was on the show he would only voice his speaking parts and someone else was hired to do the singing. Maybe this is the same situation in reverse?
Is it that hard to check the credits? They usually list everyone. I have it dvr’ed perhaps I’ll check?
Many, many, many, many guests have had one line on the show. The episode where Homer goes to Rock camp comes to mind. I have thought before how much it must have cost them just for what amounts to 5 seconds of the celebrity’s time. I would guess that since the White Stripes were not essential to the show’s main plot line they were not asked for more then what we saw. How can you not laugh at that episode? “We’ll call you downbeat because when you’re around you bring everybody down.”
Its funny because when I was watching it I was thinking the exact same thing. Just didnt sound right.
Marilinda:
My cable guide said the same thing, and Meg is not a mute, just like Teller is not a mute. In both cases it is just an act. Still, I don’t think that she should have talked, because that was one of things that made the White Stripes, the White Stripes. It was like KISS without the makeup. It is not 23,they have been around for 12 years, and Millhouse was not in the scene, but it was still funny.
Yeah, were did that picture of Milhouse com from?
Hey, people, Whitney was making a joke because the show’s been on for so long. Doesn’t anyone understand sarcasm? Also, the show’s been on for longer than 12 years, as it’s in its 19th season.
Actually this is Season 18 (First episode Dec 1989.)
Meg is not a mute. She sings back up and on their last 2 albums she had her own lead vocal.
Jack and Meg also both had speaking parts in Jim Jarmusch’s film Coffee and Cigarettes. They had their own amusing segment called “Jack Shows Meg His Tesla Coil.”
what the hell theres only 9 seasons so far u idiot
