'Desperate Housewives': New season-3 promo

Maybe I’m thick, but can someone please tell me which metaphor ABC is getting at in this clip promoting the forthcoming third season of Desperate Housewives? Is it about airing dirty laundry? Or just that, after season 2 proved to be such a wash, this show’s future is on the line? As Adweek’s AdFreak blog points out, this clip is modest and circumspect compared to last year’s promo, which promised more than the season could deliver.

I like it except for two things: 1) Eva Longoria’s new blond tresses; this could be as disastrous a decision as Keri Russell’s haircut in season 2 of Felicity and 2) that ugly cover of ”You Really Got Me” is almost bad enough to make me forget how Zayra butchered the song twice (twice!) last month on Rock Star: Supernova. Could everyone please stop beating up on the Kinks? What did they ever do to you?

Well I love it Marcia Cross looks beautiful as ever and that is all I care about, well let´s not kid ourselves Longoria looks mighty fine too, just get rid of Snatcher and the world will be alright LOL!!!!!!!!!

  • Sally

I like it! I love Eva’s hair, and I’m anxiously awaiting the start of the season. Hope they impoved on last season.

The only reason I care this show is on (not enough to watch it, however) is that it gives Felicity a place to shine. What a horrible show, and why oh why do they allow the worst actress on television, Nicolette Sheridan, to be part of this promo? She is TERRIBLE.

I think the LONGING FOR THE TRUTH should say…
    LONGORIA FOR THE TRUTH.
But I guess that is why I don’t work for the ABC marketing department.

I actually cant wait for this show to come back. After everything I have been reading about this upcoming season and Marc Cherry having complete control, I think it will go back to the way it was in season one! I do really like that promo too.

    the “snatcher”good one

What is with the little girl when Lynette opens the shower curtain? She looks like she is from a White Stripes video.

  • Ed

I was hoping for one of the sheets to come undone and wrap around Susan’s head – followed by a tornado.
Eva’s hair, not to drastic, I wish they would use more of Nicolette’s character. Dreading the Lynette/Tom story line.
I’ll watch, Marc Cherry is back so I expect some creative and fun story lines. If not, I’m going to start a Myspace website devoted to making fun of the show.

the girl in the shower looks like something from a Willy Wonka/Charlie movie….
Why did they even bother showing Nicolette Sheridan if they don’t even pay attention to her or Edie…she wasn’t even on the finale….I bet that storyline with her nephew (which was supossed to be “about a son” in season 2) is written off in the first 5 episodes and we don’t get to see Edie till April or something….
And was it on purpose that they almost didn’t even show Hatcher’s face???? It’s horrible and skinny and unhealthy I know, but that camera should’ve stayed a little longer on her.

  • Miles

I loved it. Emmyless as it is, I cannot wait to have the girls back, the show was flawed last season, the writers really messed up Susan, but the actresses themselves they are the reason to come back…

I think the little intertitles that say things like “aching for perfection” and “thirsty for blood” are abstract enough that they represent all the ladies, but at the same time, represent each individual lady’s plot for the start of the season.
For example, Bree is the one aching for perfection in terms of a normal, upstanding marriage and life. Gabrielle is thirsty for blood over Carlos’ infidelity.
I really like the promo. It fits the tone and style of the show extremely well, and it’s done it’s job well — I’m excited for season 3.

  • Dave

I’m so looking forward to season 3. Marc Cherry will return the show to season-one levels of humor, suspense, and creativity. Plus, Edie’s nephew (shirtless!) will be hot, hot, hot!

  • Dillon

Loves it! I amso excited for the upcoming season!

Don’t mind Longoria’s new hair so much, but dear lord what have they done to that Kinks song??? That is awful on so many levels. It borders on being a crime against humanity and it certainly qualifies as a crime against music.

  • chocolatespirit

omg–could everyone let the “Felicity haircut” gooooooo????”"
And I really don’t like the automatic “white washing” that seems to take place with ethnic celebs–everyone must have long flowing BLONDE locks–it’s so boring. I would like to see some brunette sass please, and an interesting plot line on DH this season.

  • roel

while i am anticipating season 3, i found this promo so bizarre and unsettling, it made me laugh. all i could do was laugh.
the women are too airbrushed and plastique looking (felicity huffman is almost unrecognizable) and i’m not digging gaby’s new hair.

  • ayo

eva’s hair looks great. the best thing about this promo is that nicolette’s in it, hopefully that bodes well for edie love the stuff that comes out of that girl’s mouth. lynette, tom, crazy ex-girlfriend, child…snore. i’d almost rather see susan whining. last thing how in the heck did marcia get robbed of a nom after her fantastic work; the emmys suck.

Anybody know specifically who’s singing this version of “You Really Got Me?” It’s not that bad, in that sort of Nonpoint “In the Air Tonight” sort of way.

  • newbie

Eva’s hair is not as questionable as Felicity Huffmann’s! What Scandanavian village was scalped to get enough blonde hair extensions to make her rival Rapunzel? She’s the last actress & character I would guess would want the non-age-appropriate locks. I like the presence of Edie in the promos, but they hint at the fact that even the ads don’t know what to do with Susan.

  • newbie

That version of the song is BEYOND horrid! Makes Muzak versions seem preferable.

  • RBlues

That little girl reminded me of the twins fron “The Shining”. Creepy!

  • jon

If they change storylines five shows into the season, these promos are going to be a big waste of money… here’s hoping they don’t…

  • Mo

Felicity had hair extentions in for the filming of her new movie, Georgia Rule. They won’t be in during this season of DH. But I have to say, I think she looked fab! Soooo hot! I liked the promo, can’t wait for the show–I hope it’s better than last season, though. And I hope the give Felicity more to do. She’s the best actress on the show.

  • V.M.L.

I actually like the video. Its funky and sexy.

  • Maeve

I am so far beyond being over this show.

  • Jyoti

Heh, I personally find it hilarious that ‘Susan’ just had to stand there in the promo while everything happened around her. She’s such a useless character.

  • Theo

Don’t watch the show, don’t care – but it is nice to see Felicity Huffman get to vamp it up after TRANSAMERICA.
And a big “no” to blonde Eva. Yikes.

  • mary2

The kinks were a great band who did tons of great songs and albums why is it that the only song you ever hear of them is you really got me.

  • Mike B.

Teri Hatchers walk is the same on that she did in the season 2 promo, but just the dress is a different color. And also the dress that she walks in is different with the one at the end of the season 3 clip were she’s next to all the girl’s.

  • Mike B.

What I was trying to say was the they used Teri’s walk from the second promo and used it on the third…Doesn’t that suck for her?
