Sorry to be so late on this tip, but I’m just not cool enough to read Fashion Rocks, the Vanity Fair supplement in which Justin Timberlake, apropos of nothing in particular, dumps haterade all over Taylor Hicks. First, he implies that American Idol isn’t exactly a reliable talent farm. ”I have a strange relationship with that show. I despise it, and yet I’m completely fascinated,” says the former All New Mickey Mouse Club Mousketeer. He continues, ”People think he looks so normal, and he’s so sweet, and he’s so earnest, but he can’t carry a tune in a bucket.” Of Hicks’ instant fame, JT says, ”Do you realize how much pressure it is to put on somebody all of a sudden? If he has any skeletons whatsoever — if, God forbid, he’s gay, and all these people in Mississippi who voted for him are like, ‘Oh my God, I voted for a queer!”’ (”Not that there’s anything wrong with that,” Lance Bass’ former bandmate failed to add.)
Yikes. Timberlake had better watch out for the millions of Soul Patrolers who’ll be waiting to ambush him, pelting him with old Sam Cooke 45s and jars of Metamucil. No word on what Hicks thinks of Timberlake, though if he’s willing, PopWatch will broker a truce between the two singers: if Justin will refrain from criticizing Taylor (at least until after he releases an album), Taylor will return the favor and agree not to rip off Janet Jackson’s top and cause a scandal that costs the networks millions in increased fines.

What!!? The nerve of Timberlake! His band was manufactured. Taylor can sing circles around him. He is a stone hypocrite. I believe the green eyed monster is rearing its ugly head. And by the way, I like the Metamcuil crack.

Justin seriously hasn’t taken a look in the mirror. NSYNC = fabricated as much as American Idol winners are. Can’t carry a tune? Last I checked, T.Hicks blew away everyone… including the guest judges (AND SNOOP DOGG) that are more know all over the world besides good ol’ JT. Didn’t he also trash talk Kanye West … again? And this is also the same guy that tried to negotiate a “break” from Cameron Diaz during his tour when he was in europe so he could have some “fun” (aka screw around) Not to mention that the queer crack was WAY out of line. What an ass … I am not the biggest Taylor Hicks fan either, but when you consider how many people watched american Idol and Voted for him you can’t deny that he has an audience out there. I think Cameron should drump his ass so he can hook up with Lindsay Lohan, those two seem like a much better pair for each other, as far as making unfounded attacks on others who never did anything to them goes … oh … and for being just plain classless.
Thank the lord, that Justin has the courage to stand -up to the overwhelming number of pre-packaged, commerical “pop” stars like Taylor Hicks. After Justin’s years of hardwork for the disney, macdonalds, and BMG, he should know what a ‘real’ ligitamite music driven preformer is all about.
Big deal that Hicks toured for years and released two independent albums prior to his “overnight” success from Idol. I ask you has Hicks ever recorded something as real as the “ba-da-ba-da-ba” Mcdonalds jingle. I don’t think so.

Who does Mr. J.T. think he is? I’m no huge fan of AI, nor have I heard Taylor Hicks actually sing but it’s pretty petty when artists have to resort to slagging each other publicly.
The gay comment JT made seems a little calculating. Who said Taylor Hicks was gay, besides JT? Hopefully this wasn’t way of starting some stupid rumour in hopes that people won’t buy Taylor’s new CD and choose JT’s instead.

I agree with Angie (and Justin) that Taylor really isn’t as good as singer as people think he is. He is not much more than a gimmick and I doubt he’ll be around in a year’s time. I don’t think Justin’s origins as a pop star are anymore “credible” than Taylor’s, but, JT has been in the industry a lot longer than most and has made a successful transition from boybander to soloist.
The gay comment was probably just about himself…but, that is neither here nor there.

I am definitely not a Taylor Hicks fan. But Justin Timberlake is the product of Disney and a manufactured band. How hateful to attack other singers when he has not proven himself as a solo act with any kind of lasting power. He is more famous for who he dates than what he sings. Pulling Janet Jackson’s clothes off was disgusting–at least Taylor Hicks has some class. And mentioning something so personal as sexual preference shows how small he is.

First, let me get this out of the way: I’ve never watched an episode of American Idol nor will I do so in the future. And I will not buy or listen to the music of Taylor Hicks. Having said that, Justin Timberlake is a complete phony and a coward. He’s a phony when he puts on his “black-cent.” On an episode of “Punk’d,” it was pretty much revealed that he is in no way “steet.” Next, he’s neither brave nor an honorable gentleman. I just laugh at how he quickly distanced himself from Janet Jackson after the Super Bowl’s half-time wardrobe malfunction. He just let her twist in the wind all by her lonesome. Taylor Hicks worked his rear off for more than a decade before he auditioned on American Idol. Even if people can’t stomach the Idol “machine”, they should listen to Taylor’s original pre-Idol recordings to see just how talented he is.
Justin Timberlake is a jerk! He has no integrity, and that’s something that Taylor Hicks has an abundance of. It honestly doesn’t matter what Timberlake thinks about Taylor or American Idol, but it will be awesome to see him eat his words someday! And that day will come. Watch out, Justin. Just like most of the people who have posted, I think the “queer” comment was out of line. As one of the Mississippians who voted for Taylor, I’d like to say that I voted for Taylor because I believe he is talented. Period. I don’t care what people do behind closed doors, gay or straight.
