Who's on your all-time best dressed on TV list?

Categories: Television

155041__lisa_bonet_lBest-dressed lists have been all the rage this summer. EW’s cover star, new 007 Daniel Craig, is Esquire’s new No. 1, while Kanye West, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and CNN’s Anderson Cooper all made Vanity Fair’s 2006 list. But our favorite best-dressed winner so far comes from the cheeky bloggers at We Got Ways, who realize that it takes a real man — a man like Dr. Bob Newhart — to rock a wide lapel or paisley pajamas.

In fact, the old boob tube has offered us some amazing fashion icons (see: Nick at Nite), and never have television’s characters been honored with their own best-dressed list. PopWatch would like to change that.

Our first nominee: Lisa Bonet on The Cosby Show (pictured), of course.

Now you. Who’s on your list?

Sydney Bristow, Alias. Come on people, the outfits were literally kick-ass.
    Helena Peabody, The L Word.
Lt. Dangle, Reno 911. The shorts. The SHORTS.

  • Ed

Valerie Cherish for her prequal to Mrs. Roper outfits. I get the feeling that Mrs. Roper dressed like V.C way before she married Stanly.

How about Don Cheadle? He’s more movies than tv, but have you ever seen that cat look bad? Even in “Out of Site”, they had the cat in a jumpsuit and he could still carry off the look!
On tv I always liked the suits worn by now deceased game show host Pete Tomarken. I liked his gear so much that I bought one of the suits he wore on “Press your luck”. Of course, it looked a LOT better on him than it does on me…

  • CS

Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Well, don’t count the first two seasons.
And Conan O’Brien always looks snazzy in his suits and flippy red hair.

  • liz

Soleil Moon Frye as Punky Brewster. Loved everything about her. From the converse sneekers to her hair accessories they were just so cool back in the day.

  • Cassie

Hands down, it’s Lisa Turtle from Saved by the Bell. I didn’t realize until a few years ago that she was the best part about the show. She dressed fabulously everyday and wasn’t afraid to rock those door knocker earrings and her endless collection of matching hats.

  • Matty Matt

Alison Kelly from Project Runway 3.
    Any of The Golden Girls.
Dwayne Wayne from A Different World. He rocked the signature sun/spectacles which flipped up—plus, I’d tune in just to check out what sneakers he was skating. Week in week out, DW made even Sinbad’s style look bad…which, actually, was quite easy.

  • Jill

    Ginger on Gilligan’s Island,
Charlotte on Sex and the City,
    Kelly on 90210

  • Lynny

For the time, Kelly on 90210

  • Chris

How about Jennifer Aniston on Friends? Her hair practically became a must-have fashion accessory.

  • Janet

    Cher
    Goldie Hawn
    The Monkees
    Mrs Cleaver
    Mr Rogers

  • nic

Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) – Sex and the City
Marisa Cooper (Mischa Barton) – The O.C.

  • jmg

Tom Selleck’s short shorts and hawaiian shirts.

  • Gretchen Weiners

Clarissa Darling – Clariss Explains It All. I would have given anything to be her.

  • Rosie

Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel–Gilmore Girls

  • Peggy Ann

    Jennifer Aniston
    Debra Messing
    SJP

  • weep

Ah yes, Lisa Bonet truly did have a unique fashion sense on “The Cosby Show” – loved her wardrobe.
    Also,
    The girls on 90210
    The women of Melrose Place
and of course the Sex and The City Gals

  • Carol

Rayanne Graff from “My So Called Life.” She rocked the 90’s style AND it was she who convinced Angela (Claire Danes) to dye her hair that signature color.
    Carrie Bradshaw
    Sydney Bristow when undercover
Amanda Woodward on “Melrose Place.” Those “business suits” were legendary.
    The Golden Girls

  • Nicole C

Buffy the Vampire Slayer…well maybe not from the first couple of seasons. Lindsay from “Freaks and Geeks”, she totally rocked the late 70’s/early 80’s style. Punky certainly had Punky Power!!! Summer from “OC.”

  • Roxanne

    In chronological order:
    Marcia Brady
    Laurie Partridge
    Mary Richards
Bailey Quarters (WKRP in Cincinnati – she looked so real)
(skip over the 80s – TV fashion was bad, except for the stuff on MTV)
    Murphy Brown
    Rachel/Monica/Phoebe – Friends
    Buffy Summers
    Piper Halliwell

  • Craig

Must agree with the Gilmour Girls, and will never forget Carla Gugino from Threshold.
Others that havent been named yet, but must be , are Keri Russell from Felicity… oh the hair … and the thinking mans outfit…. Tina Fey

  • david74

My style idols… Rhoda Morgenstern and Ralph Furley.

  • Lorenzo

I nominate Flava Flav. C’mon, who doesn’t love the clock necklace and the, um, “fashion” he wears on Flavor of Love 1&2 that comes on VH1 every Sunday night and repeating whenever the VH1 guys’ decides to take a piss.

  • Fagqua

The cast of Dynasty – shoulder pads and all!

  • sydney

what about jennifer aniston on ‘friends’ or rachel bilson (summer) on ‘the o.c.’?

  • Greg W

Corin Nemec on “Parker Lewis Can’t Lose”

  • bootsycolumbia

    In no particular order:
Carol Burnett when she opened the show; some of her Bob Mackie dresses would be stylish today.
Eric McCormack on Will and Grace; love his suits.
The ladies of Sex and the City and Friends. Style icons all.
Definitely Lisa Bonet on Cosby and Different World.
Mayim Bialik on Blossom. She had a distinctive look that I always wanted to emulate, but couldn’t because I was broke.
Nancy McKeon on The Facts of Life. I liked how she wore her uniform; it didn’t wear her. Also props to Will Smith on Fresh Prince of Bel Air for wearing his school jacket inside out. Always loved that little touch of distinctiveness.
Maureen McCormack on The Brady Bunch once wore a long black dress to a school dance. I STILL want that dress.
