Want to know what it feels like to be dumped? Watch Camera Obscura‘s kicky video for "Lloyd I’m Ready to Be Heartbroken" (off Let’s Get Out of This Country, their new album) and gaze into the soulful eyes of lead singer Traceyanne Campbell. The track is a response to Lloyd Cole and the Commotions’ "Are You Ready to Be Heartbroken" (thanks for the tip, chromewaves!). But lets focus on the dancing! A bright-eyed couple prances through Campbell’s heartache — and a Tokyo cityscape, a random department store, a field of Warholian boxes of Brillo, er, Lloyd pads, and even scenes from 1946′s Till the Clouds Roll By (that’s June Allyson in the pink slicker). I can’t wait to try out my new dance moves in the grocery store tonight. I may get dumped because of it, but it’ll so be worth it. Traceyanne, I’m here for you!

Camera Obscura are great! You should hear their cover of the Sheena Easton (yes, I know) song “Modern Girl” really puts a whole new spin on that song! It’s available on a CD in the new Q Magazine from the UK. It’s a special 80′s issue with Madonna on the cover. Also listen to The Futureheads doing David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” and a cool cover of George Michael’s “Faith” by the band Boy Least Likely To.
That video was pumped full of vitamins. Thanks!
Loved it. The June Allyson clip and the big pink bear were the icing on the cake. Is the song on iTunes?
