Start your day '80s-style!

Categories: Music

18423__edie_lJust sat down at your desk and popped in your IV caffeine drip, but can’t cope with the idea of doing actual work quite yet? Not to worry, my friends, PopWatch has got your back. (Or is it just part of my master plan to get you fired?) Either way, the ”I Heart 80s Music” Web site (thanks to Metafilter for the link) is exactly what’s necessary to get your brain in working order… or incur the wrath of your boss. (It’s similar to this site, except you don’t have to jump to YouTube.) Anyhoo, here’s my five-video plan for kicking off this sure-to-be-happy morning.

1. Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians’ ”What I Am” (pictured)
2. Liza Minnelli, ”Losing My Mind” (Yeah, it’s g-g-g-g-g…so what?)
3. Love and Rockets, ”So Alive”
4. Wall of Voodoo, ”Mexican Radio”
5. Young MC, ”Bust a Move”

Got a better playlist? Then let’s hear it, people! The morning’s not gonna last forever.

Slezak, love the inclusion of Love and Rockets, but I think it’s too much of a slow burn for what’s to be a happy morning.
    Here’s my top 5:
    1. INXS, “What You Need”
    2. Depeche Mode, “Just Can’t Get Enough”
    3. The Other Ones, “Holiday”
    4. Dead or Alive, “Brand New Lover”
    5. Company B, “Fascinated”
    -Brian.

  • Michael

    1. UFO, “Little Fluffy Clouds”
    2. Beautiful South, “Need a Little Time” (think that was 89)
    3. Donna Summers, “Hard for the Money”
    4. Erasure, “Blue Savannah”
    5. Siouxie and the Banshees, “Peek-a-boo”
Props for the Liza Minelli choice….good tune!

  • Cari

Some great choices there but here’s mine:
    1.Bananarama, “Venus”
2.The Bangles, “Walk Like An Egyptian”
3.LL Cool J, “Going Back to Cali”
    4.Shannon, “Let the Music Play”

Some dance tunes, some cruisin’ in the car tunes and a song that gives the finger to your boss from hell. Can’t beat that.
