As much as I love Deadwood, I think David Milch moving on from it to develop a series based on Kem Nunn‘s novels is a great idea. I’ve read all Nunn’s stuff, and it is made for the Milch treatment: literary thrillers, very visual, very philosophical without being stodgy, most set in the surfing subculture, with young hotshots and counterculture burn-outs, lots of rich stuff about buried family histories plus lots of fighting and crime. Think Point Break if Ross Macdonald had written the script and middle-period Don Siegel had directed. Or Milch. (Start with Tapping the Source if you’re going to read any of the books.)

So is there going to be a 4th season like the director had planned?
Talking trash about Point Break is not allowed.
I’m sick about losing season four of Deadwood. It’s the best thing on tv – ever. How could this happen??? How can this masterpiece just be abandoned? It’s not fair to the fans, it’s not fair to the actors who brought it to life, or to anyone else who worked on it. This has got to be one of the biggest tragedies in the history of art – this incredible storyline left 3/4 finished. That leaves no hope for ANY HBO SERIES. None. This will sting for years to come.
There’s a glimmer of hope for Deadwood, but fans need to speak up. Visit http://www.SaveDeadwood.tv
The exciting new series can wait until Milch and HBO have delivered the final AS-PLANNED installment of a four-part series. If the customer matters so little to HBO, the writing is on the wall as to the future of what used to be the best purveyor of art on television. And I’ll be among the first to cancel HBO — the Day After Deadwood. Pledge to be part of the GIANT FLUSH … at http://www.hbonomo.com/ .
For walking away from his own creation, leaving story lines undone and characters incomplete, I find David Milch guilt! I will never again invest any time in any work produced by the man as I know it will be for-nothing. David, your a real c#$ksucker.
IS A NEPOTIST AT THE HELM OF HBO?
It is curious that Chris Albrecht activates a publicity blitz for Entourage, which STARS HIS DAUGHTER, and cancels Season 4 Of Deadwood.
To offer, without confirmation, to end the series with two movies is an insult to the superlative quality, critical acclaim and loyal following of this show.
NO MORE DEADWOOD?
NO MORE HBO!
Tonight is the last episode of Deadwood. The stupidity of this cancellation — and the manner in which it was “leaked” — are simply outrageous acts against loyal subscribers. If you haven’t protested this decision yet, go to http://www.savedeadwood.tv and find addresses and support there.
Please register at the site, also, so that HBO can start to see some numbers. HENG DAI!
