Kanye West plans to be a movie star, and he’ll get about a dozen directors to help him. He’s planning a big-screen musical, a portrait of America, inspired by his own songs. It won’t just be a music video anthology, but rather vignettes by different filmmakers about life in the U.S., linked by a plot. The movie will include new and old songs by the rapper. George C. Wolfe (Lackawanna Blues) is overseeing the project. Say what you like about West’s notorious ego, but you can’t fault him for lack of ambition.

Here is yet another “performer” whom I could completely do without.
Just one more thing to make his a tad bigger.
Go away. Had enough of Kanye and his ego.
Actually, while the ego thing bugs me (no dear, you are not a legend, you are a person who has made a couple of good records) I do appreciate that he’s doing something other than the typical fictionalized biopic or rapper-plays-a-rapper-and/or-thug thing. Of course, it could still suck, but at least he tried.
He’s a total egomaniac, but you can’t write him off. His albums are weird and experimental, and we can probably expect the same from this big-screen musical. Instead of ignoring him, try to understand his pomp as a defense mechanism for his insecurities in the music business.
He is talented and obviously knows how to give his “public” what they want. I just can’t get past his many GREAT comments regarding himself. To me, that takes so much away from his appeal.
George Bush is not the only one who doesn’t care about this black person.
