Our friends at Defamer have declared the death of the Brokeback Mountain parody, now that the New York Times has taken a sober look at the phenomenon that includes such groaning deconstructions as ”close-ups, especially viewed at length, are intrinsically erotic.”
But wait just a second: The producers of Lost have just clued PopWatch in to Brokeback Island, voted by the series’ producers, cast and crew as their favorite of the many Brokeback-Lost spoofs they’ve seen in recent weeks. It’s pretty funny stuff (you have to love the way it reinterprets Sawyers’ ”You know what? I’m sensitive to you.”). Still, I’m wondering how EW’s Jeff Jensen is going to work this nugget into his already complex theory about what’s really happening to the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815.
Yeah, that wasn’t that funny.
I like the Brokeback to the Future one the best.

The Top Gun parody took very little editing.
I’m amused that it took Brokeback Mountain to make this mainstream – people have been “slashing” hetero (i.e Marty/Doc from Back to the Future) characters in TV and movies for years – even decades. Search for “slash” fiction on Google and see what you find. The first couple of “slash” were Kirk/Spock. Welcome to our party guys.
I think what is most interesting about that parody is that it wasn’t that funny because it was actually really good. By the end, you want to see what happens to the star-crossed lovers. That’s a “very special” episode of Lost…
Brokeback Island should have been dedicated to the Jack/Sawyer slash fans. I got a kick out of it because I love BBM and Lost.
