You thought Bree (Marcia Cross) had a handful when she had to deal with Rex’s mom (Shirley Knight) at the beginning of this season of Desperate Housewives? Carol Burnett as Bree’s evil stepmother, that’s going to be freakin’ fantastic. I hope the Desperate Housewives writers are up to the task. To be on the safe side, Marc Cherry should write that episode himself, you can’t always trust his writing staff.
Love Carol and love Marcia…great casting.
But my peeve about Desperate Housewives…don’t these gals have sisters or brothers too?!? How come only parents?!! Hmm…looks like the actresses don’t want actresses from their age group to steal their thunder. But c’mon..bring on the sibs!

Nathan-Carol Burnett is around 70 years old I believe, and besides, she is playing Bree’s stepmother, not mother, so her age really does not matter.

Can we get other actresses to play the step-moms or moms on series? Is there some list that only these people can be cast? At least Shirley Knight is unique and has not been on a series before. Wasn’t Carol on some other show as the mother or mother-in-law? i know there are other actresses out there who would like the work!

Mike in Monction, I was thinking the same thing. Her lips are at least twice the size they normally are. But I’ll overlook that because Carol is a queen and Marcia Fox is her crown princess. I can’t wait. Should be a great episode.
Carol Burnett is 72, and Bree is, what, 39-43? I would say she’s more than old enough to be Bree’s mother. The USA Today article said that Bree’s son is seeking emancipation from the family, I say Bree should let him do it and put all his stuff on the front lawn and be done with the good for nothing ingrate.
I want to go on record saying that Desperate Housewives is on the way out. If Lipstick Jungle signs some other good names it should be the new DH.
Step-moms, moms, family members coming in…that means they truely are getting desperate!
