'Project Runway': Reunited and it feels so hostile!

Tagged:

161256__guadalupe_lLast night, all the competitors reassembled for the inevitable reunion show, which are usually painfully boring, rarely revealing the juicy behind-the-scenes tidbits we so desperately crave. (Who the hell did steal the chiffon?) Props for the Runway producers, then, for delivering a truly entertaining episode. I could write an entire post just about Santino’s tirades and Andrae’s frolicking, but I’d rather pick the five people whose transformations surprised me the most:

GUADALUPE (Pictured) Is she on something or what? It was hard to follow her nonsensical declarations of love for both Santino and The Man in Black ("I believe you can’t push the boundaries — like Johnny Cash — Walk the Line."). Um, isn’t Johnny Cash, like, the worst example of respecting boundaries? That song’s about adultery, isn’t it?

JOHN Dude lost A LOT of weight, yo. Congrats. But I guess he had a lot of time on his hands, having been eliminated after the first challenge.

CHLOE Chloe still whimpers about her passion problems. Sorry, but whispering "I’m here" isn’t proof that you care.

ZULEMA I find Zulema more detestable than Santino. At least Santino is funny ("Daniel Franco, where did you go?") — and is a decent designer. Zulema, on the other hand, is a subpar dressmaker who blames everyone else for her faults. No matter how brilliantly that model walked, her "tootie" still would have been exposed.

ANDRAE Ten minutes?! He cried for nearly 10 minutes? Why, oh why, didn’t the producers show us that great moment in its wallowing entirety? The montage of him bursting forth from a revolving door — over and over and over — was simply special.

(Did Heidi say, “They went like bagels”?)

Any insights for you, PopWatchers? Whose collection are you most looking forward to seeing?

The Klum/bagel moment was broadcasting gold. Pure AU, I say. And Lupe was cute with that new hair of hers. And anyone else think that Diana’s lockjaw has worsened? Should she spring for the tetanus shot?

I’m most looking forward to Daniel’s just like all the contestants. He really does beautiful work. I’m sure Santino won’t disappoint in making it interesting.
That bit about Andrae and his expressions/accent/flamboyantness was priceless! I’m still laughing. :)

Actually, the song is not about adultery. You are thinking of Ring of Fire. Not that that makes any more sense in the context of Lupe’s rambling.

Was I the only one who noticed Daniel Franco’s “I love you, Heidi?” Ever since the lingerie episode that whole Daniel-Heidi tension has been weird.
    The musical was priceless.

Oh so many great moments last night, where to begin? The “it’s just fashion” musical. Heidi butchering Raymundo’s name (that girl is SO red state!). The continuance of the Daniel Franco-Santino feud. Daniel V. futilely trying to defend Marla, as if she had a shred of credibility. The bagel thing wasn’t THAT funny, Heidi is always butchering the English language (and yes that’s because she’s GERMAN).

My two favorite moments were easily Guadalupe’s rambling, incoherrent (intoxicated?) response to the extremely simple question posed to her, and that unsettling, whispered “I love you” from Daniel Franco to Heidi. The producers presented the latter brilliantly, dropping out all ambient sound and preserving about ten seconds of creepy silence, after which everybody pretended like it didn’t happen.

oh my god guadalupe was so wasted…i’m surprised more people didn’t or haven’t commented on that, not to mention the fact that she was noticebly quiet after the rambling. my absolute favorite moments were the musical montage, andre’s expression montage, and hearing santino’s tim gunn impersonation again. i love that guy.

The most shocking revelation for me last night was finding out that Daniel Franco is straight. Totally didn’t see that coming. And I agree, his “I love you” to Heidi was one of the most hilariously unsettling things I’ve seen lately. I love Daniel, though–he was one of my favorites and was eliminated far too early.
I wish they let some people talk more, though–I could have done with a bit less Santino. Seeing his Tim impression again was a welcome treat, though.

It was fantastic! There was so much juiciness to share that hadn’t been seen. All of the outtakes of the boys singing (very realistic for how punchy they all must have been), more on the Andraw/Tim Gunn love affair, ten UNBELIEVABLE minutes with Andrae crying (no wonder Santino was laughing!), all the people’s impressions of Andrae…and, of course, the great job the editors did to the part where Daniel Franco tells Heidi he loves her — and she just smiles. All they needed to do was pipe in the sound of crickets chirping.
    Brilliant! Go Daniel V!

Plus: Lupe = Drunk Freak On Air / Idiot.

LIS!!! (Laughing In Side) Im at work but I cant stop singing in my head “Its just fashion!” this was one of the best reunion shows I’ve seen in a while… alcohol should be required at all reunion specials… especially the bachelor

  • rain2

of course, the only black one is the most detestable – what’s new!!

  • Novi

Andrae continued to be adorable and likeable and one of the only 2 or 3 people Santino didn’t bother to insult.
Zulema: just because you invented a name for who you are when you have your witchy moments doesn’t mean we don’t hold you responsible. Grow up.
I would’ve liked to see more of what the designers are doing now, besides getting hot (John) and getting drunk (Lupe).

  • Jen

Santino can be mean, but he is just too damn funny! I was laughing uncontrollably during his entire montage of Tim Gunn impressions…he needs a spin-off or something.
    I also loved Andrae’s British/French/gay accent.

  • Maria

My favorite part of the show was Santino quoting the lyrics to Closer by Nine Inch Nails as Tim Gunn. “Designers, you let me violate you.” I can’t help liking Santino when does things like that.
