Katie Couric asks: "Should I stay or should I go?"

10115__katie_lI don’t care for the sound of human voices in the morning — not before I’ve consumed at least two Diet Cokes anyhow — but for some reason, I can deal with Katie Couric’s. Her brand of sinister-sweet goes down easy with my bowl of Cheerios, know what I mean? Rumor has it, however, that Couric is contemplating bolting from Today to take over Dan Rather’s old chair at the CBS Evening News. Tough decision. Does she want to make $16 million or $20 million per year? Continue with her brutal early mornings, or finally stay up late and see what this Law & Order show is all about?

Clearly, PopWatchers, Katie needs your help: Weigh in now and help an anchor out, aiight?

Frankly, I don’t think she has the gravitas. Too many flirty interviews and fluff-pieces on ‘Today’ have made me completely ill at ease with the idea of her filling Dan Rather’s sizeable shoes in a very serious job.

    go. please. go away.

She seems like a nice enough person, but, I’ve never really thought of her as a serious journalist. Perhaps it’s the format, but, the times I’ve been home in the morning to watch the Today show, I’ve never really seen her, or Matt for that matter, ever ask really tough or intelligent questions to those they interview. Good luck to her either way though.

    Can’t stand her.

  • GOB

She is the single most annoying “news” person on television.

Please go and let the network bring in some young good looking talent. Take those sagging snack bags to the graveyard.

Katie Couric needs to shed her career, so my migraine stops. She’s America’s guillotine.

Marjo? Dan Rather’s sizeable shoes? You must be kidding. Dan couldn’t report a robbery to a policeman without bias.

Does being an evening new anchor still have the same prestige it did years ago? I don’t think so. It’s not like they go out and get their own stories. All they do is read the news. Maybe they’ll ask a few questions every now and then, but not often.

This has got to be a joke – Is this really the best they can do? I don’t watch ‘Today’ because of her, and I won’t watch CBS either.

    BABABOOEY

  • Sharlin

She is more suitable for Access Hollywood than real news.

I love Katie, she is very vibrant and energetic in the morning which is exactly what I need. I LOVE all of the group on “Today”, Matt, Al, Ann, all of’em. Hopefully if this story is true, the network will see how much she is worth and try and keep her…..DON’T GO KATIE!!!

Gosh, you guys are brutal and downright rude. You all obviously have no manners.
I love Katie. She’s intelligent, sweet and seems to actually care. AND she has brought an enormous amount of attention to colon cancer. I think she would do an excellent job on the evening news tho’ I’d hate to see her leave my favorite NBC family. Now if you have nothing nice to say then…..
(There’s a difference between critiquing and being hateful.)

I think it would be good for her. Frankly, her interviews on the Today show get a little uncomfortable these days. She seems to want to show everyone how much she knows and doesn’t let the other person answer her questions. I think she’s ready to move onto something new. Today show will survive with Matt, Ann and Al and one of the wonderful weekend people. Good Luck Katie!
