To get there, she’ll have to outsell American Idol Carrie Underwood’s Some Hearts, and let me just say, if there’s any justice in the music world, then gosh darn it, she will.
Then again, I really believed America was gonna do the right thing last May and crown Bo Bice as the rightful Season 4 champ over the Oklahoma farm girl, and you saw how that ended up.

Madonna will probably sell ~50K more albums than Carrie. But I think that’ll change next week.
Sales charts are in. Madonna beats Carrie 344k to 303k. Week 2 will be the big determinant. I wish Madonna would hurry up and release “Sorry” so she can kick Carrie’s butt back to Oklahoma.

Madonna is opening in the place she deserves, Number freaking 1, with 344,066 counted so far BUT that number does not include all the AMAZON.COM or ITUNES where she has been number one for the whole weak with 3 diferent versions of COAD, so we can expect maybe a couple of thousands added to that number.

You have to give Carrie credit if she is that close at number 2. Not to say that she doesn’t pale in comparison to the mighty Madonna (whose CD I bought day one), but, I think Carrie’s sales can be commended. I agree with the post that said next week will be the true test though. I imagine Carrie falling quicker than Madonna, who I hope will stay at number one.
Well Madonna should of won the battle considering she’s an icon. It would of been embarrasing if she didn’t. Carrie had the biggest debut by a new country artist though and is the darling of the country music scene so I don’t thin she will be heading back to the farm in Oklahoma anytime soon. As for Bo Bice being the rightful winner. Wait til you hear his new material. Everything you knew from Bo on AI is gone and his material is pure crap. It sounds like Clive Davis tied him to a chair and forced him to sing this stuff.
Of course that Carrie sold a lot, i mean, if from the AI factory and it has to sell a lot by default and please, u are not gonna tell me that with that name of a single she wasn’t going for the middle America folks. That was just tooooooo easy.

nov 15th was a great day for me with madonna, carrie, mariah and alanis morissette’s greatest hits coming out. i bought all 4, i’m just glad chicks rule this week. there’s room for everyone in my CD collection, but like when mariah entered at # 1 with “emancipation”, i’m glad to see madonna at #1 because both women were counted out after their last cd’s but this year they both kicked a$$!!! chicks rule

Also, it’s Carrie’s first CD. First CDs are always big because there is novelty involved; she was also an AI winner, not that it guarantees success, but it’s one of the two extremes. Ashanti came out with half a million on her first CD and dipped with her second and flopped with her third. Ashlee is facing a similar scenario. This is Madonna’s 14th CD. Not only can she release new material and fare well, she can still take on newcomers too.
Carrie’s CD had to come out this week to take advantage of the CMAs. She couldn’t have come out last week or she would have been trampled by Kenny “is-he-or-isn’t-he” Chesney. We’ll see if her CD has the same longevity as Kelly.

I’m so sick of Madonna…she is what, 46 years old and humping the stage everywhere she goes in nasty crotch-hugging spandex outfits! I don’t want to see that! No one in their right mind should want to see that, or her gross camel toe all the time. STOP! Put some clothes on and make actual music…you know, songs that have lyrics and a chorus, instead of crappy techno songs where you sound like a computer that get old after you listen to them for 2 weeks. Yeah Hung Up was fun, but now that I’ve gotten over it and listened to the rest of the Cd, I’m bored. I won’t buy it…I did however buy Carrie’s Cd and its the best post-idol debut Cd that’s been made. Carrie will be a huge hit because the country world already is in love with her and she has crossover appeal too. And to everyone that is deluding themselves and thinking that Bo Bice should have won, or that he will do better than Carrie, i doubt 300,000+ people are going to rush out and buy his Cd…i sure wont.
