Where have you gone, C. Thomas Howell?

153739__cth_lNever mind John Stamos, did anyone else catch a gaunt, gray-haired C. Thomas Howell on ER last night? Who knew that the ’80s hearthrob (The Outsiders, Soul Man) could so convincingly portray a kidnapper/pedophile? Yes! That was him with the little girl in the opening sequence in the diner.

If you didn’t see it, suffice it to say that when a 10-year-old girl says that she has played "the married game" with her captor and her captor is the artist formerly known as Ponyboy, you too feel like you’ve been robbed of your childhood. And no matter how many tanning pills you take, it ain’t coming back.

Look for C. Tom again in NBC’s "movie event" The Poseidon Adventure (above) on Sunday, Nov. 20; he plays a pedophile ship’s doctor (except just kidding about the pedophile part).

What other ’80s star would you like to see more of? My vote: Kerri Green.

Actually Kerri Green has already appeared in ER back in 2000. Watching a recent rerun, I recognized her and did an IMDB search.

I *did* recognize him…but thought I was hallucinating. My how he has changed from that fresh-faced teen in “Soul Man.”

I’m glad to see someone else noticed that was C. Thomas Howell…I missed the opening credits, so I went to NBC.com to check out the credits for the show, and he wasn’t listed as a guest star. What gives?

    C. Thomas Howell was on Summerland also. He played an abusive father…he’s kinda creepy now.

  • Nancy

    Ralph Macchio.

  • Tom

    Martha Plimpton!

Deborah Foreman from Valley Girl. She was hysterical in the cheesy My Chauffeur. And her line in Real Genius still makes me laugh. By the way, since when does C. Thomas Howell look like Jeremy Irons.

Spy Magazine, Swayze, Lori Singer (the frosty Julie the cello player on Fame the tv show), Jamie Gertz, Phoebe Cates, Ralph Macchio (pls-pls-pls make a tv network Karate Kid spin-off show? “Laruso, PI,”?), Emilio Estevez,

Apparently C. Thomas Howell had some medical problems recently, which has caused his gaunt look. I don’t think it was makeup!! He is getting better and working on it… I was happy to see him, although I was bummed that he was so creepy!
Oh — and bring back Martha Plimpton… and Ralph Macchio was great on Entourage.

Molly Ringwald, Lisanne Falk and Joyce Hyser. In a remake of “Townies.” Only funny this time.

i’d like to see more of shelley hack. she did survive the storm of negative publicity that came out of her charlie’s angels stint, and acquitted herself well in modestly-budgeted tv movies afterwards. last seen on the telefilm “frequent flyer”, shelley has aged well and has retained that kind-of-now, kind-of wow appeal that made her famous as the charlie perfume endorser.

I’ve been a fan of Shelley Hack’s since I was fourteen years old. The minute she was in Charlie’s Angel’s, I’ve become an instant fan of hers. I’ve also seen her in the movies “The Stepfather”, “Bridesmaids”, “Freefall Flight 174, “Troll”, “Blind Fear”, “Jack and Mike”, “Single Bars, Single Women”, and “Frequent Flyer”. I think that she’s a good actress, and handles her acting roles very well.
