What to buy for the frog who's got everything?

145058__kermit_lKermit the Frog is 50, and while he says in a new and revealing interview that he’s got no idea what he’d like for his birthday, PopWatch would like to boldly suggest some enterprising network give the skinny green dude his own series. C’mon, if a bunch of washed-up reality contestants, Hulk Hogan, and even Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends get to be on TV every week, why not Kermie, a talented singer and proven ratings draw?

I mean, he doesn’t look a day over 25 — even though he’s reportedly never seen the sharp end of a Botox needle — and the years haven’t dulled his patented quick wit. ”Listen, you can send a stripper to my party if you like,” he tells the Associated Press. ”It won’t affect me because, as you can see, I am appearing naked, which I always try to do because I’m kind of a natural guy.”

Hey, with that kind of attitude, maybe he ought to link up with 40-year-old Cosmo as the next in its long line of hunky celebrity centerfolds. That is, if he can get permission from Miss Piggy. Hi-YA!

I say no go for a new Muppets show. Just about everything has been remade lately, and while highlights like the new Galactica and Batman Begins have demonstrated it can be done right, “Mod Squad” and “Rollerball” have shown us how it can be done very wrong.
Given that Kermit already got a “reimagined” series with the atrocious “Muppet Babies”, it may be a while before they give him a new gig.
If he were to come back, maybe they could cast him as a guest star on a tv drama? Imagine Boston Legal with Kermit as one of the new “Up and coming” attorneys? Maybe he could play a talk show host? What about as a news anchor?

I say yes to a new Muppets series. A new variety show on ABC could be really good. With really good guest stars. I think that it could work. I mean, I’d watch it. I don’t know about everyone else.

    Kermit is the new Regis!

I’d love a new Muppet Show, but it would have to be on par with the first Muppet Show…some of the recent movies have been subpar.

Bring on a new Muppet Show, we need those zany characters.

I think a new show would be great for ABC, maybe like a spoof of a late night talk show, hosted by the Muppets once a week, now that would be hilarious, but they also need to leave the realm of made-for-TV and return to theaters.

I’ve always loved the Muppet Show, i just bought the first season on DVD! Give Kermit another chance? Of course!
