Aeon Flux has been pushed back from August to Dec. 2, which gives us more time to savor advance footage of Charlize Theron kicking butt in a cutaway catsuit. Moviefone has two new minute-long clips. The first is a jailbreak sequence that puts a novel twist on the old marbles-rolling-down-the-hall trick. The other is a making-of clip that shows Theron putting her Oscar-winning thespian talents to the test as she practices her wire work. She talks about seeing how far she could push herself physically; you’d never know from the clip that she suffered a neck injury performing a stunt, forcing production to shut down for four weeks last summer. See? Even off-screen, she’s a convincing actress.

Who isn’t excited to see this romp of fine women in scant outfits with guns on the big screen?
It’s great to see that comics and remade anime are starting to get the star treatment. Natalie Portman will be amazing in “V For Vendetta” (though the source material I have always felt was pretty weak, compared to the author’s more tasy morsels such as the Watchmen and League of Extraodrinary Gentlemen).
As an aside, to me this is also telling of how desperate hollywood is for some fresh blood and fresh ideas. It sounds like time for another Tarrantino-esque independent director to make another movie that changes hollywood the way “Pulp Fiction” did.
In response to EP Sato,
While Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction was a wonderful film that inspired a lot of Hollywood rip-offs it did not change Hollywood. They did not go out searching for maverick filmmakers or original ideas. Instead they grabbed a bunch of hacks and had them make Pulp Fiction retreads for 10 years. That is what is depressing about Hollywood.
Hmm. This is true. But then again, we also got some great heist flicks out of the deal: Sexy beast, Lock Stock N 2 Smoking Barrels and Snatch among them. Oh Wait, those aren’t from Hollywood…hmm, point taken.
On the other hand, when Spider Man and X Men hit, it led to a run of comic book movies. While some have been less than satisfactory (Hulk, Catwoman, Daredevil, Punisher and Elektra, the jury is still out on FF). But I am still glad the run on comic movies has occured, as it gave us “Batman Begins” and “American Splendor”. IMHO, it was worth being stuck in Daredevil doldrums and Elektra’s threadbare plot to get these gems out of the deal.
However, when Howard the Duck 2 gets greenlit, I will agree that they have again taken it too far in Tinseltown.
