'American Idol': Scotty McCreery covers 'Please Remember Me' for season 11's goodbye song

Reigning American Idol Scotty McCreery never had to suffer an emotional public elimination, but he’s ready to help this year’s contestants through it! He’s recorded season 11′s “goodbye” song, a cover of country ballad “Please Remember Me,” first released by Rodney Crowell in 1995, and made a hit by Tim McGraw in 1999. Watch their videos for the song below. McCreery’s cut will debut on American Idol this Thursday as we watch a montage of the ousted contestant’s time on the show. 'Bachelor': Does Courtney stand a chance of changing your mind? POLL!

Tonight is the episode Bachelor fans have been waiting for, The Women Tell All. Courtney — a model known for stealing time with Bachelor Ben on group dates and for after-hours skinny-dipping, and for twisting the knife verbally when she appears to be “winning” — faces her fellow contestants, who have now seen her full antics on TV and are angry that she’s made it into the Final Two. From the promo clips we’ve seen of the women’s equally unappealing pack mentality in action and Courtney being reduced to tears, they haven’t accepted her apology like Ben did. Last night’s Las Vegas episode of American Idol was easily the most entertaining one of this season, right? For the first time in the last six weeks, I’m legitimately excited about this season’s crop of contestants!

While season 11′s audition rounds felt sloppy and unremarkable — and featured almost no judging! — and Hollywood Week focused much more on group drama than vocal ability, last night’s two-hour show, which winnowed the group down from 70 contestants to just 42, struck a much-needed balance of rehearsal footage, singing, judging, and heartbreaking cuts. 'Parenthood' poll: Max made a friend! Who cried?

On last night’s Parenthood, we watched Max and classmate Micah bond while sitting out gym class. I cheered and got a little misty. When Max, who has Asperger’s, invited Micah over to his house to play videogames, and Micah’s mother told Adam and Kristina that Micah, who has spina bifida, has never had a friend before, I teared up. Truly, it filled me with the amount of joy I usually get watching a will-they-or-won’t-they TV couple finally get together after seasons of anticipation. I think I’m even happier for the parents than I am for the boys. I don’t have children, but on some level, having a late father who lost his ability to walk and communicate during a lengthy illness, I understand what it’s like to want so badly to bring joy into someone’s life and the power of the moment when you feel like it’s actually happening. 'The Vow': I didn't cry, but I liked it when Channing Tatum did

What’s more shocking: The Vow‘s opening weekend exceeding expectations, or the fact that you didn’t cry watching it (or did you? poll below!)? I was fully prepared to tear up, but my eyes never got wet. I ended up seeing the film alone, so the only discussion I was privy to afterward was the one I eavesdropped on in the seats in front of me: One woman thought the film didn’t let you get to know the couple (Channing Tatum’s Leo and Rachel McAdams’s Paige) enough before she was thrown through the car windshield and lost her memory of him to get her emotional. Personally, I think I was just distracted thinking about their mutual stupidity: Did she honestly want to have sex in their car, at a stop sign, during a blizzard? That’s why she took off her seatbelt. It seems like she could have waited until he parked the somewhere. Why wouldn’t he have thought to bring in their wedding video as “proof” that she loved him before the accident — or any of the pictures an artist like her probably would have taken of them over the years? Why would he think inviting anyone over to their place on the night she comes home would be a good idea? Why did it take them so long to figure out they should go on a date to get to know each other again? READ FULL STORY »

'It's halftime, America.' How to top Eminem? Get Clint Eastwood to do a Super Bowl commercial

2011′s best Super Bowl commercial was Eminem for Chrysler. It’s only halftime, of course, but the greatest of 2012 so far has been Clint Eastwood for Dodge, Jeep and Chrysler in another all-American “Imported from Detroit” spot. Eastwood spoke of finding a way through tough times — if there’s not one, we’ll make one.

“Detroit’s showing it can be done,” he insisted. Then the actor-director’s voice that sounds like what Mount Rushmore is carved out of delivered a State of the Union closer for the ages: “This country can’t be knocked out with one punch. Congratulations to American Idol reject Ben Harrison for having such hilarious genes!
