Ripa'd from the airwaves? Kelly and Nick Lachey dress as Kim and Kris as E! faces a tough 'Fairytale Wedding' decision

kim-kardashian_240.jpg?w=240&h=240

Savor the image to the right, Kardashi-fans. It may be your last chance to see Kim Kardashian in her Hepburn-inspired wedding gown. Fresh off the news that Kardashian has filed for divorce from Kris Humphries, her husband of 72 days due to “irreconcilable differences,” E! (home to Keeping Up With the Kardashians) is considering pulling all repeats of their four-hour, two-part marital spectacular Kim’s Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event from the air. And in other news from the bizarro land that results from the collision of reality with “reality,” Kelly Ripa and Nick Lachey dressed up as the presumably happy couple for this morning’s Live! Halloween show just an hour before the divorce was confirmed. See Ripa and Lachey’s unfortunate (but hilarious) costume and learn more about E!’s programming quandary after the jump. Twitter pays its respects to Harry Potter's parents on the anniversary of their death

If you ever needed concrete proof that the Harry Potter saga and its characters (even the dead ones) will never really die, this might be it.

On Monday morning “RIP Lily and James Potter” became a trending topic on Twitter, commemorating what would mark the 30th anniversary of the death of Harry Potter’s parents.

The late couple, as we all know, died defending their infant child against He Who Must Not Be Named. Fans, who are planning a moment of Twitter silence at 3 p.m., posted messages like, “Thirty years ago today Lily and James sacrificed their lives so that their son, Harry, could live. RIP James and Lily Potter,” and “It’s 3 decades since his mother’s sacrifice saved Harry and caused the downfall of Lord Voldemort. RIP James and Lily Potter,” while another noted, “RIP James and Lily Potter, but also, happy birthday Peter Jackson! An eventful day for nerd history, Halloween is.” (Although The Roots drummer Questlove had a different outlook on the outpouring of grief on the social networking site, “”RIP James and Lily Potter” REASONS YOURE SINGLE.”)

While I’m not planning a vigil, Internet or otherwise, for James and Lily Potter (as Chandler Bing argued about the sadness over Bambi’s mom’s death, “Yes, it was very sad when the guy stopped drawing the deer“), it got me thinking about how often this sort of thing occurs with pop-culture enthusiasts. Are you planning on having a piece of anniversary cake to celebrate the nuptials (also 30 years ago!) of Luke and Laura on Nov. 17? Did you hang out by your local mall on Oct. 26 in the faint hope that the DeLorean would show up? On May 4 will you be buying little Cece Halpert something for her second birthday?

Are you mourning the death of Lily and James Potter today, PopWatchers? Which pop-culture anniversary do you acknowledge? Share in the comments section below!

Glenn Beck cries chatting with Kathie Lee on 'Today' -- VIDEO

What caused Glenn Beck to cry on Today this morning? Did someone make Beck sit in a drum circle at the Occupy Wall Street movement? Or did someone buy him an Obama 2012 bumper sticker for his car? Nope, it’s neither of those things.

Rather, during a taped interview with Kathie Lee Gifford, the former Fox News commentator got emotional talking about the his own difficult childhood, which he drew inspiration from for his latest fiction book The Snow Angel. Among other things, Gifford and Beck discussed his mother’s death, a possible suicide, and why he and his family didn’t talk about it for a long time. “When you live in an alcoholic family or an abusive family, you tiptoe, you don’t want to step on any mines,” Beck said.

But when Beck tried to talk about the abuse (“My father told me abuse is generational”), the political pundit — who now runs his own pay-per online network GBTV — broke down and cried. “Now The Today Show is going to make fun of me again,” he said, wiping away tears. READ FULL STORY »

Courtney Stodden gets kicked out of pumpkin patch for being too sexy. I cannot wait for her reality show, and I am terrible.

Here on PopWatch, I write a lot about women’s issues in pop culture. Body image, right to privacy, exploitation — there really isn’t a topic I don’t like to weigh in on, constantly encouraging female celebrities to dare to be recognized for their talent and brains over their heavily scrutinized bodies. (Just see my sadness over Lindsay Lohan’s reported Playboy shoot earlier today.) So why in God’s name am I so damned excited to watch child bride Courtney Stodden and husband Doug Hutchison’s reality show?

These are two people who stand for everything I stand against: READ FULL STORY »

Lindsay Lohan to pose nude for 'Playboy'? File under: News that makes me sad.

Dozens of actresses desperate to cling to fame have increased their celebrity by posing for Playboy. So why does it seem so sad that Lindsay Lohan might be the next one to follow (birthday) suit?

TMZ reported today that the Mean Girls actress — who’s currently in trouble with the law — has agreed to pose for Hugh Hefner’s magazine for nearly $1 million. Her rep told EW he cannot confirm whether or not Lohan will indeed pose, but it wouldn’t be too surprising that a woman who already appeared partially nude for New York magazine would accept a big payday to star in another tasteful shoot. (UPDATE: X17, via People, spoke to Lohan’s mother, Dina, who said Lohan did indeed post for Playboy.) Yet, I can’t help but feel sad hearing this news. READ FULL STORY »

Lindsay Lohan and Ali Lohan's latest photos: Who wore it best?

Lindsay Lohan isn’t having the best week. (Then again, Lindsay Lohan hasn’t been having the best couple of days/weeks/months/years, but let’s not go there.)

Not only did the troubled Mean Girls star have her probation revoked yesterday in a Los Angeles court, where she was lead away in handcuffs and now awaits possible jail sentence, but now she’s been ordered to do more community service, this time at the L.A. county morgue. READ FULL STORY »

'Beautiful' singer Christina Aguilera: Why calling her 'fat' is downright ugly

Back in 2009, the Internet decided former reality show darling Jessica Simpson would be its target. Spotting an unflattering photo of the singer wearing a pair of ill-fitting jeans, Internet surfers and blogs unleashed upon Simpson, deriding her for supposedly daring to gain a smidge of weight. And though the singer still struggles with the taunts — and even used them as inspiration for her short-lived Vh1 series examining appearance, The Price of Beauty — our impatient, tabloid-hungry nation has shifted its focus. Now, the Internet is spending its time slamming pop star and The Voice mentor Christina Aguilera.

The body inspection of Aguilera is nothing new — in the early 2000s, chatter spread about a possible breast enhancement surgery. But now, eyes have moved to her thighs, with bloggers calling her every synonym for “fat,” even slapping her with nicknames comparing her to Jersey Shore‘s Snooki. (Who, by the way, looks perfectly fine too, despite some unwise clothing choices.) But the labels don’t stop on the Web. On Friday’s Fashion Police, Kelly Osbourne unloaded on the singer after some harsh photos from the Michael Jackson Tribute Concert began making the rounds. Said Osbourne, “She called me fat for years. I was never that fat.” READ FULL STORY »

'Real Housewives of New Jersey' reunion: The devil in blue

Wow, and I thought you couldn’t top last year’s reunion! After a rather repetitive (how many times can we hear, “We’re family”?), Danielle-less season, things got fiery on part 1 of the Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion. Teresa, dressed in electric blue, feuded with every lady on the couches, including her close friend Caroline. Jacqueline opted out of the reunion, owing to some terrible fight with Teresa that happened the night before while filming of season 4. (Even though I was curious about the Jacqueline-Teresa drama, I’m glad we were at least spared a time-wasting segment on Ashley — or should I say “Ashlee”). At this point, season 3 already feels like old news. Sure, Teresa’s Fabulicious book planted some evil seeds in the finale, but clearly the good stuff is happening right now, and no one can really talk about it. All this drama seems a bit higher stakes than usual, because the Jersey housewives have always seemed a bit more authentically linked to each other than the other Housewives — these women are either family or “like family,” further proving reality TV is Kryptonite to any relationship, even ones that appear to be rock-solid. E! host Giuliana Rancic reveals breast cancer battle on 'Today' -- VIDEO

During a visit to Today this morning, E!’s Giuliana Rancic (E! News, The Fashion Police) revealed to host Ann Curry that she is currently battling breast cancer. Rancic, who has publicly chronicled her struggles with infertility with her husband Bill Rancic on their reality show Giuliana & Bill, told Curry, “Through my attempt to get pregnant for the third time through IVF, we sadly found out that I have early stages of breast cancer… It’s been a shock.”

The 37-year-old went on to talk about how her doctor recommended she get a mammogram, something she thought she wouldn’t have to do until she was 40. (“I went kicking and screaming to get a mammogram, to be honest.”) A tearful and shaky Rancic recalled how she felt when she found out the news that she had cancer (“That was the hardest day”) and urged female viewers to put themselves and their health on their “to-do list.” Watch the entire interview below, in which the E! host talks about the support she’s had from her husband and why she’s “not going to give up” on having a child. On Sunday, two-time Indy 500 winner Dan Wheldon tragically passed away at the age of 33 from a fatal accident during a race in Las Vegas. Wheldon, who is survived by his wife Susie and their two children, was remembered on Twitter in the hours since his passing by sports and Hollywood stars. Actress Ashley Judd, who is married to driver Dario Franchitti, posted lines from John Donne’s poem “Death, Be Not Proud” and then tweeted, “Hardest parts, Thinking about Susie, Sebastian, Oliver. Seeing my husband grieve. Nights are so awful at first. Poor woman. Such pain.” Danica Patrick, one of the many in the racing community who reacted to Wheldon’s death on Twitter, wrote on her page, “There are no words for today. Myself and so many others are devastated. I pray for suzi and the kids that god will give them strength.”

Here are how some other stars paid tribute to the English-born Wheldon on Twitter: READ FULL STORY »
