Olympics: Nina Dobrev is as obsessed with gymnastics and Gabby Douglas as you are (maybe more)

After hearing that 16-year-old U.S. gymnast Gabby Douglas is a huge fan of their show, the cast of The Vampire Diaries made her a video congratulating her on her team and individual all-around golds and wishing her and her teammate, Aly Raisman, good luck in today’s event finals. Watch it below. (No spoilers in the comments, please!)

Nina Dobrev, a former artistic and rhythmic gymnast, was behind the group effort. “Forget sleep. It’s all about the Olympics right now. I’m obsessed. Like, it’s actually a problem. They’re starting to tell me I’m looking tired on set, and it’s because I’m up until, like, two in the morning watching the Olympics and going to work at 5 a.m.,” Dobrev told EW earlier today. “I used to be a gymnast, and I competed internationally, so it’s my favorite time. I even bought a 3D TV so that I could watch them in 3D. When I found out that Gabby liked the show, I was incredibly excited and really happy to make the video. And now we follow each other on Twitter, so we’ve been direct messaging. The 16-year-old in me wishes that I was up there with them. So I’m just so happy for her success. And she’s so cute. She has the most amazing smile.”  READ FULL STORY

All of those crazy kids’ favorite vamps, wolves, “unique” hairstyles, a bunch of promos for Fox’s fall TV lineup, and scores of unwanted brightly hued surfboards came out to party at last night’s 2012 Teen Choice Awards.

The X Factor‘s Demi Lovato and Glee‘s Kevin McHale co-hosted. Flo Rida, Justin Bieber, and Carly Rae Jepsen performed, and — get this — No Doubt sang live. Hey, it is the ’90s!

The full list of TCA winners is on page 3 of this post; my own personal winners of Fox’s two-hour telecast are below. By all means, list your own in the comments.

Ian Somerhalder puts himself on the auction block for charity

ian-somerhalder

There’s a hoard of Vampire Diaries loyals in the world who would love to have lunch with Ian Somerhalder, and now, here’s their chance. The bonus? It’s for a very good cause.

Charitybuzz is hosting an auction that will award the highest bidder a chance to have lunch with the Vampire Diaries star in Atlanta. (Place your bid here.) All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Ian Somerhalder Foundation, and specifically go toward the organization’s plans to open up an animal sanctuary.

“A big component of ISF is not just habitat or species conservation, it’s animal protection and youth education,” the actor tells EW exclusively. “There are too many animals that are abused, mistreated, and abandoned. They’ve been ostracized, they have behavioral issues, and they’re starving. It’s just unbelievable what we’ve done to the animals, and I think that’s why this is so important.” READ FULL STORY

'Vampire Diaries,' 'Hunger Games,' and Bieber dominate Teen Choice Award nominations

On July 22, adolescents will briefly stop texting in order to celebrate their favorite movies, TV shows, musicians, sports stars, and more at the 14th annual Teen Choice Awards. Who are we kidding — they’ll be texting as they celebrate. The show’s nominee list was revealed today, and it’s filled with exactly what you’d expect: The Hunger Games, vampires, Justin Bieber, and more vampires.

The Hunger Games is going head-to-head with Twilight: The One With the Sex (a.k.a. Breaking Dawn Part I), as well as The AvengersMirror Mirror, and Wrath of the Titans in the Choice Movie: Sci-Fi/Fantasy category. Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence racked up individual nominations as well, as did the Hunger Games book trilogy. Yes, there’s now a Choice Book award. Other nominees include the Twilight saga, the Divergent series, Nicholas Sparks’ The Lucky One, and…The Giver, which was first published in 1993, before most of today’s teenagers were born.

Nina Dobrev is now Conan O'Brien's favorite guest EVER. See why!

If you only watch two minutes of The Vampire Diaries‘ star Nina Dobrev’s interview with Conan O’Brien from Wednesday, it needs to be the clip below. Conan asks her to show him a yoga move, and she uses him as a human wall to do the scorpion. As fellow guest Joel McHale says, “This is awesome.” And that was before he saw where Nina put her feet.

Still, it’s the dismount we think Conan will recall most fondly — and what made him take a victory lap. Good times!  READ FULL STORY

'Vampire Diaries' poll: Which Original do you hope can't be killed?

We have three episodes of The Vampire Diaries left this season, including tonight’s Roaring ’20s Decade Dance, and by the end of them, we will know which Original is at the start of Damon, Stefan, Caroline, and Katherine’s bloodline. Whichever Original it is can’t be killed, because when an Original dies, all the vampires in his or her line follow — and we need the show to continue. So, which Original do you hope gets the pass? It doesn’t mean this character has to have actual screen time moving forward, mind you. Or that you’re condemning all the other Originals to certain death. It just means that the possibility for this one character to resurface will always exist. If you follow my recaps, you know as much as I love seeing Klaus (Joseph Morgan) tear up — and I do — I’m rooting for it to be Elijah (Daniel Gillies), who has interesting histories with both Katherine and Elena (Nina Dobrev) that I’d love to revisit, in addition to great taste in suits and the ability to make me trust him even though he likes to rip people’s hearts out. I recently took my plea to TVD exec producer Julie Plec. “Let me tell you, there’s a 25 percent chance it’s Elijah. In my heart, maybe it’s 97 percent,” she laughed, humoring me. “I don’t know.” Let’s take it to a vote below.  READ FULL STORY

Paul Wesley's 'Burt Reynolds volleyball' movie: Watch the trailer!

The Vampire Diaries star Paul Wesley was a guest on Live! with Kelly this morning, and he asked Ripa’s cohost, D.L. Hughley, if he remembered him. He didn’t. Wesley said he had “three phenomenal words” that might help: “Burt Reynolds volleyball.” That did it! They costarred in the 2006 film Cloud 9, which, judging from the trailer embedded below, was about Burt Reynolds turning strippers into beach volleyball players. “We were up for Best Picture,” joked Wesley, who appears to have played the ladies’ frequently shirtless trainer.  READ FULL STORY
