If you only watch two minutes of The Vampire Diaries‘ star Nina Dobrev’s interview with Conan O’Brien from Wednesday, it needs to be the clip below. Conan asks her to show him a yoga move, and she uses him as a human wall to do the scorpion. As fellow guest Joel McHale says, “This is awesome.” And that was before he saw where Nina put her feet.
Still, it’s the dismount we think Conan will recall most fondly — and what made him take a victory lap. Good times! READ FULL STORY »

We have three episodes of The Vampire Diaries left this season, including tonight’s Roaring ’20s Decade Dance, and by the end of them, we will know which Original is at the start of Damon, Stefan, Caroline, and Katherine’s bloodline. Whichever Original it is can’t be killed, because when an Original dies, all the vampires in his or her line follow — and we need the show to continue. So, which Original do you hope gets the pass? It doesn’t mean this character has to have actual screen time moving forward, mind you. Or that you’re condemning all the other Originals to certain death. It just means that the possibility for this one character to resurface will always exist. If you follow my recaps, you know as much as I love seeing Klaus (Joseph Morgan) tear up — and I do — I’m rooting for it to be Elijah (Daniel Gillies), who has interesting histories with both Katherine and Elena (Nina Dobrev) that I’d love to revisit, in addition to great taste in suits and the ability to make me trust him even though he likes to rip people’s hearts out. I recently took my plea to TVD exec producer Julie Plec. ”Let me tell you, there’s a 25 percent chance it’s Elijah. In my heart, maybe it’s 97 percent,” she laughed, humoring me. “I don’t know.” Let’s take it to a vote below. READ FULL STORY »
The Vampire Diaries star Paul Wesley was a guest on Live! with Kelly this morning, and he asked Ripa’s cohost, D.L. Hughley, if he remembered him. He didn’t. Wesley said he had “three phenomenal words” that might help: “Burt Reynolds volleyball.” That did it! They costarred in the 2006 film Cloud 9, which, judging from the trailer embedded below, was about Burt Reynolds turning strippers into beach volleyball players. “We were up for Best Picture,” joked Wesley, who appears to have played the ladies’ frequently shirtless trainer. From a shirtless Damon to a possible threesome (!!), if the preview for tonight’s episode of The Vampire Diaries is any indication, viewers have plenty to be excited about. Now, we’re adding another reason to the list.
For the past few months dedicated fans have been logging in to our live blog to chat (and often, freak out) about the episodes in real time. I’ve moderated many of these conversations but tonight I’m going to be joined by a very special co-host who has a lot more insight into the supernatural happenings in Mystic Falls: Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec. We are 10 days away from a new episode of The Vampire Diaries, and as fans of The CW’s top-rated show proved over the weekend — when they got executive producer Julie Plec’s name trending on Twitter — they can mobilize, even on hiatus. “That’s the first time the fans have done that,” Plec said of the honor in an email to EW. “Quite a hilarious thrill, I must say.”
We asked Plec to name a few other phrases she’d love to see trend before the show’s March 15 return. Her top picks: READ FULL STORY »

Somehow, for a series packed with vampires, werewolves, witches, hybrids (and yes, even the occasional ghost), it’s a love triangle between two undead brothers, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley), and one very mortal girl, Elena (Nina Dobrev), that gets The Vampire Diaries fans the most riled up. (And judging from the chemistry in our cover photos, it’s not hard to see why. Check out collectors’ covers No. 2 and 3 after the jump.)
When executive producers Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec decided that they were finally ready for bad-boy Damon to share a legitimate kiss with Elena — after more than two years of buildup — they knew it would have to satisfy two avid fan bases: those who wanted to see Elena
get with Damon, and those who were still holding out hope for her to work things out with soul mate, Stefan.
“It’s one of those things that you want to be able to defend,” Williamson explains to EW. “But even more importantly, you’d rather not defend it. You want it to feel real and right and natural by all the audience.” Satisfying the “shippers” (a term used to identify fans who root for fictional characters to have relationships), is a challenge both Williamson and Plec have faced each time they’ve tried to advance the triangle. Asks Plec: “How can we service this moment between our characters that we really want, a Damon and Elena kiss, without getting the Stefan-Elena side of the fandom to give up hope and give up on us? And vice versa, when we want Stefan and Elena to have a moment together, how can we do that and not have our Delena fans outraged?”
This week’s EW cover story also features interviews with Vampire‘s stars — Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, and Paul Wesley — who talk about keeping the love triangle red-hot, where they fall in the Stelena-Delena shipper wars, and all rumors swirling around their real-life relationships. Says Dobrev: “The rumor mills were ‘Is Nina with Ian or is Nina with Paul?’ Ther
e was a lot of speculation.” Notes Somerhalder coyly, “Nothing has been confirmed yet.” READ FULL STORY »
